Q:So I drunkenly put my elbow through my friend's passenger window in his jeep wrangler..he's pissed and is demanding $200 for its replacement or he's pressing charges. Yeah, nice friend. 200 dollars sounds like an astronomical amount for a piece of plastic that zips onto your car. Am I getting ripped off?
You're not getting ripped off... those things are surprisingly expensive.
Q:i used to have wooden windows but now i have plastic windows and im just wondering if the air conditioners would still work on plastic windows since you cant drill holes into them.
You'll just need to find another way to mount the AC, like attaching a bracket to the wall instead of the window frame. Make sure you screw into the studs and not just the sheetrock.
Q:And then you use a hair dryer on it and it shrinks the plastic?Does that work for all plastic? Will all plastic shrink? Or are the ones in the store a 'special' type of plastic?
most plastic does not shrink. the stuff you're talking about is designed to shrink when heated like shrink wrap on packages.
Q:Hello all, for several years I have been having to buy replacement Jeep soft top (plastic) windows to replace the scratched ones. The last couple of times I have been fairly careful in not scratching them but I have noticed that even without scratches there seems to be some type of buildup that prevents it from looking clear and shinny as when they are new. I have tried using all sorts of soft soaps and even dish washing soap thinking it would take the build up off. Well, not luck. Here is my question, does anyone know of a product that they have actually used to keep Jeep soft top windows looking shiny and clear? Thanks,
Meguiars Plastx They also have a headlight restoration kit its made for headlights, but can use on anything plastic it includes plastx buffer that attaches to a home drill and microfiber towel
Q:Should I insulate just my single pane windows or my new windows as well? Also should I put the plastic on the inside, outside or both? Thanks.
Plastic on the inside. Putting it outside will subject it to wind and weather. It will be noisier and will not last all winter. If your new windows are double or triple pane, I would not do them. Look for places where drafts come in around windows, doors, fireplaces. Many of these can be sealed with caulk and are very efficient.
Q:what do i do to make the plastic thats supposed to keep the chill out on the windows stay on. it keeps falling down? i followed the directions. now what?
How is the plastic attached? What is it attached to? Are trouble shooting ideas available? I've had problems with the window flashing's sweating, causing the tape and/or adhesive to fail. Try attaching the plastic to wooden strips and inserting the framed plastic in the window area. Another option is a staple gun, however, that can create problems of a different nature. Try contacting your local hardware store for ideas, suggestions and possibly solutions offered by other customers.
Q:ok i have a corvette 1986 convertible. The car isn't perfect but i love it. the main problem for me is the rear plastic window. It is brown and is not visible at all to the inside for the outside. I need to know if there is any product out there that can go beyond the cleaning of oxidation. i want the window clear again. And yes it has been left outside for about 5 years to face the elements but i was not the first owner so i presume that it has been outside longer. so the question comes down to how do make the window go from brown to clear without buying a new top.
Go to an MG Spares store and ask for GREYGATE!! Its the Rear monitor Polish that all the MGF forum web sites Swear by means of !! I've acquired an MG Midget MGF and and had been told SO oftentimes by way of these guys that that is THE !!! Stuff to make use of. Additionally been advised that BMW spares stores do a very good screenpolish too.
Q:I don't know why house windows are made with glass instead of plastic
just is
Q:I'm moving out of my apartment in a couple weeks and i have these plastic-like window blinds around the place. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get these things clean without taking them down? They're supposed to be white but I'm noticing a couple yellowish-brownish stains on them. I've tried all sorts of chemicals to try and get these things cleaned. No luck at all.
Use a blind brush to get rid of any dust, then put warm water and 2 teaspoons of vinegar in. Vinegar is a natural cleaner. (Maybe use febreeze on them after to get rid of the smell) How are doing?
Q:It is a clean tear- about 2 inches. I was wondering if there is anything I can use to glue it back together, or if a mechanic/garage would be able to fix it?
you can try glueing it back together with super glue or somthing, but other than that, you will need a new window. Do you car what it looks like? the glue wont hold forever
