- That might be a good solution, if you have a place to buy them at a good price. I usually put up a heavier curtain or drapery in the cold weather. I like to be able to open them when the sun is coming in. I also close the blinds in the evening. I don't think the plastic works all that well either. Good luck keeping warm!

- probably just cellulose. Like photography film, it's just highly processed plant-cell fibres. I'm also uh, told, uh, that one can find clear smokeable rolling papers made of cellulose as well.

- Its generally OK - but you should check with your local recycling station to be sure. Every place is different. For example, here where we are, they require you to wash everything out well because its a small operation and there are real people around the items, so, to avoid contamination by rodents and bugs, as well as bacteria and the general smell of things, they want you to wash things out thoroughly. However, in the city where my parents live, they can just basically throw most things in the bin, even if they have a bit of food gunk on them. Different rules for different places. So, while it is generally OK to leave the little plastic windows in the envelopes, you specific recycling station may have different requirements.
- Q:So we just moved into an old home that is notorious for being difficult to keep warm in the winter. The previous tenants had plastic on the windows to keep the cold out. - Yes! There are actuall polishes made for these windows. I have also used Softscrub but only on real basket cases. Try some toothpaste and a soft rag on a small spot on your rear window. I have seen this done once before with pretty good results.
- Q:will the house retain heat if plastic windows and frames are installed?
- Very little. It is the trapped air inside insulation that makes it work. If the windows and or frames are insulated, then yes. The problem is, the gas used to insulate windows is not a do it yourself thing.
- Q:There have been news reports that broken glass is falling from condo apartments. They are coming from glass window installments. I want to know if condo buildings ever build their windows with plastic.
- In all the years I've worked as an agent, I have yet to see a condo that uses plastic windows. All windows I've seen are glass, even in 1970s condos. I have never heard news reports of broken glass falling from condos. If that happens, obviously an incident has taken place, but it's not a reflection on the material or the installation quality.
