- Q:is there any way to clean the faded plastic door windows on my canvas doors? we really cant afford new doors right now at 400 a whack, there faded by the sun bad.thanks
- Go to any auto store there are many different cleaners/restorers for what you need. Just ask they should be able to help.
- Q:I am looking for the plastic parts / clips that attach the glass pane to the cables of my car's window regulator. I can't find them individually. Specifically, I need them for Audi, BMW or Volkswagen (VW). Thanks
- I can find that sell the window regulator clips individually. They have them for Audi, Volkswagon, BMW and other makes as well. If you are going to fix it yourself, they also have a tutorials section, including video guides.
- Q:I rent a townhouse that has very old windows.. LL will not replace them so im thinking of puttng plastic over the wndows.. we are not aloud to put plastic outside.,. Can anyone tell me..should it be thick plastic? should i staple it? or just tape? when i lay on my bed or couch i can feel the draft and the curtans move.. these wndows are terrible!! any help on the whole insulating thing would be great.. i hate having my heat on 78 just to be somewhat warm cause all the cold ar is still blowng in.. for some reason the heating vents are close to the wndows.. defeats the purpose if you ask me..
- I used to live in an apartment with the same problem but the one answer that asked about the glasing, Don't. What he is refering to is caulk if you want you can get a couple tubes of clear caulk (Yes they do make it, and no it is not silicone) and put a small bead around the edge of the window. This will help some but the window plastic that a couple of the oter people suggested works wonderfully.
- Q:is the space between the glass and the window seal important
- On the inside of your house, and around the entire window to cover spaces in the window sill. The space is important between the window and the glass because it will keep condensation off of the plastic. The space is a transition between the warm air in your house and the coldest air outside. It has some insulating properties.
- Q:My windows seem to be extra drafty this year... It seems like one of them is open, but I can't find anything wrong with them. Anyhow, my heat is kicking on like every 15 minutes! I don't wanna get a $300 gas bill every month till winter is over... I'm thinking about putting plastic up on the windows --- How do I do this? What do I use?It seems so ghetto, but oh well.I live in an apartment building too btw..
- just google DIY shrink for window for information. it should help a lot ;even if you could not feel a breeze. It would be like having a thermal /multi pane window. do it to all your windows.
- Q:Ok, I just moved in to my own apartment this past Spring, and it's an older duplex (with a lot of friggin windows-31 to be specific). So trying to keep the heat in this winter is a huge issue. I've heard of covering the windows with plastic to help, but I'm also looking at thermal shades (window quilts, etc.). My question would be which of these would keep more heat in? Or should I do both? (I would make my own if doing the quilts...so if anybody has any links to a really easy way to make them that would be very much appreciated as well! ) Money is tight, so I'm trying to avoid the problem to begin with..
- I've had the same problem before. This is what I would do....I would do the plastic (There is some that you can use a hair dryer on to tighten up so it looks better and doesn't blow around). Once that is done I would do the quilts/blankets to be a bit more insulating. You could just tack them up inside the window frame or if you have curtain rods is even better. If it is an older place it could look really cute with quilts. Good Luck. sorry I don't have any links right now but I will keep my eyes peeled for you.
- Q:97 Wrangler soft top. I scratched the plastic up and would like to polish it out. Any tips?
- go to your local jeep dealer and ask for soft top window cleaner i got some. its not expensive and it takes out scratches and cleans it up. and its sold by jeep so you know its not gonna be some worthless crap that you bought
- Q:what is the difference between acrylic and plastic window vent visors ?
- Plastic is a generic term that can apply to many different materials. Acrylic is a specific type of plastic. That said, there are many types of acrylics as well. A common acrylic used in automotive applications would be polymethyl methacrylate, also know under the trade name Plexiglas. Polycarbonates are also commonly used and are sometimes referred to as acrylics but technically they are not acrylics at all. In this application I'd probably prefer a polycarbonate as it would be more durable and less likely to craze with repeated washing. Something sold as acrylic would come second and anything generically referred to as plastic a distant third place.
- Q:I put up fly nets with adhesive velcro strips (were included in the package) on my plastic window frames. That was last year. The glue on the velcro has now turned to dust (literally) leaving dark, pinkish black stains on the white plastic where the sun hit the velcro. Is there any way to remove or bleach these stains? I tried chlorine but that didn't work.
- You can get rid of the glue residue with Goo Gone. Wipe on. Let sit for about a half an hour. Then scrub with a plastic dish scrubber and wipe off with wet paper towels. Good luck. -
- Q:Where can I buy some plastic to put up to my windows for the winter? ?
- Home improvement stores, hardware stores, department stores, paint stores, dollar stores
