Q:Their made of hard plastic and are privacy panels
Hubby is a carpenter. He says they are still called storm windows even tho they're made of plastic.
Q:my friends tagged my jeep like last may for the end of skool with window chalk... i got the stuff on the front and body off but the plastic windows left a light but noticeable stain... and they just tagged it again for the start of skool and im having a real hard time getting this one off is there a trick or something to buy to get this stuff off... o yea and i have a tear in my jeep window is there a way to fix that without tape like melting it back together or some waterproof glue Solution
Window chalk can come off. your acquaintances have no appreciate for you. a real chum does no longer vandalize and ruin an high priced piece of components. If I have been you i might document a police document against them and sue them for damages. in case you tried to get the chalk off and that's not coming off, I advise changing the plastic domicile windows. The chalk ought to come off tho. I heavily desire you think approximately suing them and submitting a police document against them. attempt some olive oil, or yet another high priced option yet likely might paintings is womens makeup remover.
Q:Can you use glass chalk on jeep windows (the plastic ones)?
I am not sure if it would actually stick to the window or not but I would not advise using it even if it will work. Jeep plastic windows scratch very easily so it would probably damage the windows.
Q:I just had my 30 yr old storm windows replaced with nice double pain, double glazed, argon filled windows in November. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! But now that i am used to comfort level and energy savings that these windows have made to my home. I find myself looking for the tiny amounts of cool air that penetrates into my home. And I still have this habit of wanting to put plastic over my windows. Do you think adding the plastic now would be overkill? Or would the energy savings still out way the cost of the plastic this first week on January?
sit back and relax. if you have extra money you want to spend, i cuold use new windows in my house. you may want to find a hobby to take your mind off puting plastic over everything. HAVE A GREAT '08!
Q:If I do weather stripping and seal the windows with plastic, is that better than doing just one, or redundant?
The plastic window kits that shrink (via a hairdryer) work well. No need to weatherstrip them as well.
Q:I don't know what they mean by 'apply tape to bottom of protruding sill.' I have a sill, do they mean on the surface of it, or below the sill on the wall, or should i just put the tape around the window and apply the plastic, just not sure how to handle the sill...thanks...
Having used this stuff myself, I've learned that the weak point in the system is the adhesive strength of the tape. Since the plastic will be stretched, it will be pulling constantly against the tape, so having the plastic go around edges before taping helps to reduce the force against the tape. In other words, instead of putting the tape along the inside edges of the molding, or even on the face, I wrap the plastic across the face of the molding and attach the tape along the outside edges of the molding, where it meets the wall. With the plastic going around a 90-degree bend, it helps relieve stress on that adhesive. At the sill, I put the tape on the bottom of the sill -- not the face of it, but the underside. That's what has worked best for me. The tape holds, and the plastic stays in place.
Q:what is the difference between acrylic and plastic window vent visors ?
Plastic is a generic term that can apply to many different materials. Acrylic is a specific type of plastic. That said, there are many types of acrylics as well. A common acrylic used in automotive applications would be polymethyl methacrylate, also know under the trade name Plexiglas. Polycarbonates are also commonly used and are sometimes referred to as acrylics but technically they are not acrylics at all. In this application I'd probably prefer a polycarbonate as it would be more durable and less likely to craze with repeated washing. Something sold as acrylic would come second and anything generically referred to as plastic a distant third place.
Q:I have yucky shades on my windows dead bugs all around my windows. They are old windows so I bought an insulation kit to do the windows. It says I will need to blow dry. What if I don't want to touch the disgusting shades my landlord said be would replace when I moved in ? I am kind of stuck living here so until I can find a place a roommate, I want to seal the windows. shades completely. They have poor insulation a handful bugs come in every hour.Do you think the plastic will work without shrinking it with a blowdryer? There are slice webs around my window so I am disgusted.
I'm guessing your insulation kit is the type with double sided tape for the window facings. You don't have to use a blow dryer; that's only if you want the plastic real smooth and tight and looks good. The plastic should keep the pests out but you could bug spray first and then install the plastic.
Q:I have a 97 Wrangler soft top - plastic windows. What is the best way or product to use? I can barely see out my windows!
car shampoo is the best to clean your plastic window, because they will keep your plastic window turn brown or spoted (like when u used a detergent soap) for best result do not let your car get exposure by direct hit from the sunlight when washing your car
Q:I don't mind if its designed for another brand but I am getting very frustrated because I can't find it on GE's site or any other. I bought the unit without it in hopes I could find one online but can't find the specific one. HELP! The piece is the one that sits in the window to hold the hose in the window. The unit is a Portable AC which means it sits on the floor not in the window so its got specially designed plastic plate piece that is adjustable for your window size.
Measure the window opening and go to a glass place with the hose and have them make you a lexan piece to fit the window with a hole in it. Lexan is very sturdy. You can run a rod straight thru the outside part of hose to keep it in place or tape it. It isn't like some technically expensive part to make. Actually it will probably be better than original. BTW, keep the hose as short as you can as it gets warm and heats the room as the compressor cools it. I had one and the closest I could get was 5 feet and it didn't help at all.
