Q:hello,i have lots of 8 gauge wire resting at my closet. And i'm very interested on doing the big 3 upgrade to my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt. May i see any improvement with 8 gauge wire?...i know that at least 4 gauge is recommended...but i dont want to spend money.
You probably won't see/hear a difference even if you use 1/0 wire, but there will be one. 8 awg big three will probably at least double the current carrying capacity of your stock wiring. To say it would be a waste of time would be ignorant IMO. It certainly won't hurt anything and will make a significant reduction in resistance compared to what's already there. I did my big 3 with 8 awg. I'm running 1500w rms with a stock 130A alternator.
Q:If you put clay over wire and bake it would the wire melt and ruin the sculpture?Details on wire:I'm not sure what kind of wire it is but it says Bright Floral Wire..Wire is silverDetails on Clay:Again, im not sure what clay...its from polyform products and it says Premo Sculpey so im guessing Polymer? :#92;Clay is Black.Bakes for 275F (130C)30 minutes per/par/por1/4 in (6mm)
No the wire won't melt - besides fuse wire or solder, the lowest common melting point wire is aluminum and it melts at over 1200F Floral wire is usually steel and melts at more like 3000F, but even if it were copper, that melts at about 1900F The real problem with using wire in polymer sculptures is that when the clay shrinks in baking it may pull apart along the wire or that you may make parts of your sculpture thin (like legs or arms) and part thick (like body or head) and thick clay tends to crack - so these parts need to be hollow, which is why people talk about crumpling heavy duty aluminum foil as a core, so the clay is more uniform in thickness all over. Don't forget to have an oven thermometer for accurate temperature checking - don't trust the knob setting on the oven.
Q:I have 12/3 wire running from the breaker box on a 20 amp breaker that powers a bathroom (2 lights and 2 receptacles). I want to splice into this and run 14/2 wire into the living room to run 6 recessed lights. Is this OK to do?
No, you can't extend a 20A circuit with 14 G wire. And you can't legally downgrade the existing 12 G wire circuit to a 15 A breaker. And you can't put two wires into a single breaker inside the panel. Fastest solution? Almost all brands of panel offer a two breakers in one slot or high density option. So you can get a new thing that fits in the space of one 15A breaker but has two breakers in it and two connection screws on it. Replace an existing 15A breaker with a high density 15/15 and hook up two 15A circuits. These are also available in unequal configurations - so you could get one that had a 15A and a 20A breaker in the space of a single 'normal' 15 or 20 A breaker. In some brands these high density breakers only fit in certain (closer to the mains connection) spaces - typically the top 15 or 20 breaker spaces. Slower solution. That 15 A breaker that you wanted to put two wires on? Follow the wire from it into the attic, cut it, put in a junction box and splice your new 14 G wire in there. Then again, what else is on that circuit and will 15 A supply it all?
Q:I removed my range hood (switched off the electricity for it first) and there are three wires coming out of the wall. There's a white insulated, black insulated, and totally not insulated copper wire. What is the non-insulated copper wire? When I flip the electricity on, will it have a charge? It was weirdly wrapped around a screw in the box with the wiring...I'm not sure if it was doing anything. Thanks!
The bare wire is ground, perhaps the most important wire because it is there for safety. Sure the hood would have worked with out it but you may have gotten electrocuted if it wasn’t connected. Whenever connecting wires in anything the ground wire must be connected. If the box you are connecting the wires in is metal, not only do you have to connect the ground wire to any other ground wires you also have to connect it to the metal box so that the box is grounded. Otherwise later you may come back and touch the box and get electrocuted. The ground wire is there to ensure the breaker/fuse gets tripped if a hot wire touches any metal part of any appliance that is connect in the circuit. If not it will be like touching a hot wire just by touching the appliance. Hope this helps!
Q:I know what spark plugs are and where they are... but not sure what is meant by wires...For example checking/replacing spark plugs and wires to see if a problem is fixed..Are wires what hookup to the spark plugs from the (distributor?)
The proper name for spark plug wires is: Ignition Wires. You're right, they are the leads that run from the distributor or ignition coil pack to the spark plugs. Some newer cars don't have ignition wires as such. A timed low voltage signal runs from small electrical wires directly to individual ignition coils which snap directly onto the spark plugs. Newer Toyota's are arranged like this.
Q:wires have been cut and i have 4 wires i dont know what do.what colors are for what?
What are you wiring??
Q:need color of sig wire on maf and witch wire is sig on 02 sensore
Right!!!!! As if they're all the same. Did you want us to guess the year, make, model, and engine too?
Q:why use a large gauge spark plug wires
10mm Spark Plug Wires
Q:I just purchased a Pyle Audio aftermarket radio. The wiring is very different actually. It only has 2 single speaker wires (1for each side). So do I hook up multiple wires to one wire or what? I was thinking that I hook up the left front and rear speakers to the left speaker wire and vice versa for the other side. Need some advice.
you mean for 4 channels or the connections are for rite and left channel the grounds just go rite to the car body from the speakers so your way just connect it up one side rite the other left but stay so they are = do mot use more wire on the rite side than the left good luck
Q:how do I replace this, the wire is built into the speaker and runs into the unit.
Easy to replace. Just get a new dog. Small breed if it's a tweeter. Beagle sized for mid-range. And of course Lab or larger for that all important Woof-Woofer.
