- Q:It is a shag type rug made with leather strips. I need to know how to vaccum it without tearing it up or blowing up my vaccum cleaner. I have a dog that sheds horribly twice a year and well, this is one them!
- I would suggest using a brush attachment, rather than the heavy part of the vacuum. If it's small enough, you might be better off taking the rug frequently to shake it out outside. Good luck!

- I you were to walk into my carpet store you would see that prices fall anywhere between $3sf up to 10$ for most pieces. I would say the average installed price with a good quality pad and lifetime installation warranty would be around $5-$6.

- Carpet is pretty cheap....$2-$3 per square foot installed but look for a carpet cleaner who is going is use only Hot Water! You need a restorative process. Make sure the carpet cleaner doesn't use soaps or surfactants - they cause the carpet to rapidly resoil...... Get it clean and get the stains out....if you elect to replace go to Loews or .Home Depot ...they have a carpet that uses a new technology called Puraesque.....it can be done, just make sure you get pros instead of a bunch of nerdowells!

- Get a new carpet..there are some products that can get the mold smell out of other things but for carpeting then smell is all the way down in the padding.

- Your cat may have a urinary tract infection and is associating the pain when he pees with the litter box. You need to have the cat examined and have a urine test done to eliminate this as a cause. And you need to completely remove the urine odor otherwise the cat will continue to pee there. Cats sense of smell is much more so than humans so even if you cant smell it the cat may. I have more info on my blog if you're interested. Cats also dont recognize getting into trouble like dogs do. They dont realize that the reason you are upset is because of something they did.
- Q:What if I went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of rubber cut to just a bit less than 8' x 10' and then a piece of felt the same size - glue them together and pop the area rug on top?Would that work?
- Hi Blue Eyed Homo, I am a flooring associate that works at The Home Depot, and I know that some rug pads seem to be expensive, especially in your size. I've worked in other departments and been with the company for almost 10 years and I have yet to see a sheet of rubber that will sell in the store other than pan liner for tubs that would work in your situation. Also, you won't find at our store pieces of felt in that size. Plus, felt just won't be able to grip the rug properly especially if you have a hardwood floor. Did you check around your local stores flooring department? I think I may have a less expensive solution for you. Carpet padding, not rug pad, but the kind ppl place under their carpets. It may not look pretty but its made to not be seen anyway and it works great for big area rugs your size. Home Depot sells carpet pad in pre-cut 6ft. by 9ft. rolls or have your flooring associate there cut out a size for you. Bottom line....the carpet pad will be way less expensive than the rug pads we sell, and you'll still have a slip resistant surface for your new area rug for years to come. - Q:I'm on a tight budget, so I can't afford an area rug. But I'd like one in a half-moon shape with my bed on top. Would there be any problems making a sort of decorative-rug out of fabric from someplace like Jo-annes? Just sew and go, right?And if there's not some glaring oversight I'm missing in that idea, what sort of fabric? Upholstery? Outdoors? Quilting?
- I've seen rugs quilts made from strips of material I think they are gorgeous totally different than everything else that's on the market today! Someone has used a bit of initiative thought of a different item to decorate the home. Before I got married my intended wife were on a tight budget between us we made a woollen rug from wool - It was a dusty job for a sensitive nose, but got there in the end it adorned our home for many years it was my pride joy for making it I'm a bloke! If you can make a fabric rug in much the same manner as i did looping the fabric within itself, as I did with the wool, you will be able to make a lovely rug I'm sure! Cheers!

- If it's been more than a day since this happened your carpet is probably already ruined. Mold and/or mildew can set in very quickly and no amount of carpet cleaner can get that out. Also - check the back of the carpet - if the latex backing peels away from the carpet, it delaminated and there's no saving it.
