Q:I am wondering did water go over these reactors, and if they did is that what caused the problems, and if not, what in fact really happened?Could the devastation have been worse if water washed over it?
the reactors are right on the shore, the tsunami was right there. and yes it did wash over the plants. that's what caused the backup power to fail ! plus several fuel tanks washed away and water got in almost everywhere, however the containment units remained sealed, at least until the hydrogen steam pressure cracked them ! now the NRC reports there is radiation at deadly levels in the immediate area.japan is downplaying the crisis. and due to unconfirmed plutonium pollution, the area may be uninhabitable for 30,000 years or more ?

Q:I just got sworn in a few weeks ago to the navy, as an engineman. I was wanting to be on a carrier but didn't know if there was any jobs for the EN rate?
Most likely work related to the diesel generator or as an auxiliaryman. All propulsion work on a carrier is done by the NUCS. edit Enginemen are often assigned as small craft engineers, operating the engines on various boats carried by the ship.

You will need about $40,000 to $50,000 for an average house not including using it for heat or air conditioning (unless running generator a lot). To be off grid, your system will require the following: Many panels (approx. 16) large battery bank (approx 24 large golf cart type) Charge controller (Converts ac to dc and controls charge to batteries) Controller / Rectifier unit (controls power flow from/to generator, batteries, and loads) Gas /Diesel Generator (approx 10KW size) Safe building with good ventilation for generator and Batteries (extreme fire/explosion danger if not) Lots of wiring Lots of patience and great care to use minimum power, or batteries will not last long enough and running generator is much more expensive than grid power.

Q:engine is on a generator with about 800 hrs. changed fuel and fuel is getting to cylinder, pulled valve cover and valves are moving like they should, sprayed either in air intake and still no pop. any ideas other than to scrap the engine

The engine can run indefinitely without needing to stop for a rest provided it is properly maintained and cooled. You should change the oil and filters after every 200 hours operating time. Properly maintained you should expect at least 25-30 years operating time from the engine. Neglected and it could need replacing in less than 10. Not sure what 161 gsm/hp-hr means. Unlikely to be grams, but gallons per horsepower hour would be extremely high. Need to look further into it
