Chevrolet is coming out with something similar in 2010. The Chevy Volt is an electric car (axle driven only by an electrical motor powered by a bank of Lithium Ion batteries), but has a gasoline engine on-board to generate electricity to power the car when you run the batteries down. The gasoline engine in the Volt is not mechanically linked to the drive train and cannot be used to directly move the car. As far as diesel-electric hybrid cars go, Mercedes Benz is coming out with a Bluetec Diesel Hybrid S300 sedan next year. It's a mild hybrid though-- The primary motive power is the Bluetec diesel engine, with an electrical motor only assisting the engine when extra power is needed.

Would I be correct in assuming that because my load is power factor 1 that the full load of my generator is 640kW not 520kW.Or is it that my actual power loading is rated at 520kW, but that load is allowed to be inductive or capacitive to 0.8.Because it says 900 amps on the plate I am therefore under the assumption that regardless of my load characteristics, as long as I do not exceed 900 amps there should be no problem. Or is it a case that my load can only be 520kW and the highest I can allow the phase to go out is up to 640kVA.Hope that makes sense, ill edit if not. Thanks for reading.
While your generator will handle the amperes as either KVA or KW, unfortunately, the KW rating is is the rating of your driver. You are driver limited, not generator limited.

Yes, you'll find plenty of people (some who will no doubt post answers here) that claim it works, I'm saving .% after fitting it to my car. Go to for more information But they are invariably lying. Why are they lying? Because these scams work by recruiting affiliates who are effectively paid to lie about the system. When they tell these lies and convince people to visit those sites, they earn up to $50 for each sale that's made. My investigations have revealed that virtually none of the people who join these affiliate schemes and promote these hoaxes save any fuel -- and that's because they don't even have devices fitte to their own vehicles - they're only in it for the money. But if you want to find out more about the scam and why the claims made for these water powered car systems are bogus, visit the site I've linked to below. And as to your first question: you can not build an HHO generator because there is no such thing as HHO gas. When you perform electrolysis on water (regardless of whether you use straight DC or pulsed DC), all that you get is a mix of H2 and O2. This mythical HHO gas they're talking about simpy dos not exist because unless they're in a plasma (ultra-high temperature), hydrogen atoms immediately bond to form a hydrogen molecule (H2). So there is *no* magic HHO gas, just a mixture of hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) molecules in a 2:1 ratio. What's more, since only a tiny amount of this gas can be generated using the avaiable electrical energy your car's alternator can deliver, it does *nothing* to improve your fuel efficiency and in fact will *reduce* the efficiency. Now just sit back and watch the scammers try to tell you otherwise and refer you to their websites so they can make some money out of you. :-) Please tell your friends and family about this scam so they don't get conned too.
Q:I want to be able to plug my APC Smart-UPS RT 8000VA 208V into a diesel generator when our power will be down for an extended period of time. The max OUTPUT of the APC unit is 6400w. Does that mean I need at least a 6400w Generator?
Your problem is not that simple. Average generator is either 220 or 110 volts or three phase. If three phase, you have to know weather delta or wye connection. You are talking about a leg of a 440 volt 3 phase. Not totally familiar with voltages between phases or one phase to neutral. Cheapest is to get a 220 volt generator and a buck/ boost transformer to convert the 220 to 208. Since your ups output is 6400 watts, power your application directly with a generator that will power your buck/boost transformer with at least 6000 watts. 7-8000 watts is a better guess. Or I assume that you want to use the UPS to give perfect waveform to whatever you are powering. In that case --- you will need to use the buck boost transformer after a generator that gives 220 volts at least 9000 watts.

Q:I have two deisel engines and two tank feeds, how can I connect the genset (4KVA) . I am conerned when the engines are idling or even running they will start the genset. I do not want to put an extra tank.Thank you
If your tank has another port on it for a fuel line that is where you hook up. If not go to the supply line at the tank and put in a T fitting and then a shut off valve for each engine. Run the supply line to the generator from that T. You will also need a return line from the generator that you can T into at the return line from the engine at the tank. Many people that convert from gas to diesels run into these same problems. Often a fitting is made up that is put in the fuel fill line to allow for the return line. The generator supply and return lines will be smaller then the engine fuel lines. Running the engines will not cause the generator to start.
