Buy 100% post consumer waste paper. 18.8% of greenhouse gas emmisions come from deforestation and the paper industry. Also, don't support McDonald's. They cut down the amazon rainforest to house the cows for their meat. Think about how many cows a day that die for McDonald's. That number needs to live somewhere before it dies. Not to mention the amount of methane that's released from the cows.
Q:I was thinking about buying used car batteries from the junk yard and connecting them with jumper cables then testing the connected batteries with a battery tester to see how many volts it has. I havent tried this yet so I dont know if it will work do you guys have any idea on how to make a generator so I wont have to pay for power
You could try to build a machine that uses the turning of something to power your house. The motion could either come from a bicycle that can be pedalled or a wind turbine. You would have to buy a large motor. Attach one end of the motor to a diode, and the other end to a battery, or your house. Attach the other end of the diode to the other terminal of the battery, or your house. Use either a fan blade or a bicycle to turn the pole in the motor. This will generate electricity. Assuming that you are a good cyclist, you could generate about 100w. An energy saving lightbulb is 11w so you would have to pedal hard to keep the house powered up. Buying old batteries probably costs more than the electricity from the mains. If you do buy solar panels and wind turbines, you can sell any excess energy back into the national grid, as well as powering your house.
Q:I live in southern Indiana, and am currently living through an awesome ice storm. Anyway, my parents bought a diesel powered portable generator. It is hooked into the main panel of the house. When you crank it up and turn the lights in the house on, they flicker, as does the TV screen. It has proper voltage on each leg of the 240. I brought my generator over and everything works fine. Any ideas?
some where your not getting a secure connection,but look at it this way,it beats not havin power,a little flicker here and there is better than no flicker at all, i bet the people that has nothing is wishing for a flicker

if your home more than normal and or not conscious about your usage (keeping lights/tv on, leaving things plugged in, using your AC a lot, keeping fans onyou get the picture) it could be as high as $200 but since i'm assuming your working to live there you'll be gone most of the day so it could be as low as $90 to $150. It just all depends on your usage.

Doesn't. Rotor (w/ magnets) spins in a stator (coil). When power transfer switch detects a loss of line power, isolates line feed (to prevent linemen from getting zapped), lines up load feed (to house or wherever) and trips starter circuit to gen-set. Or, you go out to shed,shut off your main, plug in your auxiliary cord, and pull-start the SOB.

Hey, firstly this is a very broad question and I'm not quite sure where to start but here goes. There are several different types of generators, petrol are the cheapest (you could get a cheap one for $500-800) this is probably all you would require for a tree house. Diesel generators are more expensive but they are more reliable and diesel fuel does not deteriorate over time as petrol does. (I know this is too much information) For a 15 year old I would suggest: Plenty of couches, chairs beanbags etc. A easy way to get into the tree house, stairs around the trunk for example. A swing down from the tree house. If you have a pool or a trampoline you get organize so you could jump from a low platform.
Q:I own a 2300 square foot home with an upstairs and downstairs heatpump. If I wanted to buy a generator to use in the event my power went down what size should I shoot for. I would like to be able at a minimum to provide upstairs heat (1000 square feet), maintain the fridge and provide minimal light at night. Basic survival type stuff. Q:How much is the waste of the power that may be lost in the combination of two engine and where I can find the diagram that shows the relation between rpm and HP in the combined two diesel engine.this two engine combined with a clutch that synchronize two engine for two input in gears and single output.
It's best to connect them at the crank so that they can be timed to fire in a manner that your getting the most amount of power you can. This has been done in applications as small as a .12cc engine all the way up to huge engines that power large ships. The most common place I used to see it is with gas engines for tractor pull. The engines do sync up and will run together when you pair them up thru a clutch

Can someone explain to me the meaning of phase, R.P.M, power factor, and (especially) their respective units/numbers from this picture
'Phase' has no units: it is merely a number, in this case 3. It is the number of different live supplies coming out of the generator. On the blue label in your picture, to the right of the word PHASE there is a small clear panel. The 3 followed by a greek letter 'phi' is the number of phases. Then there is '4 W'. This tells you that the generator is wired in 'star' layout with a total of four wires. Three carry the live supplies and one is a neutral wire. Your building will have a lot of wall outlets and some heavy loads; for example, the motors for the elevators. The wall outlets are single phase, connected to only one of the phases from the generator. Heavy loads are often connected to all three phases. 'R.P.M'. is revolutions per minute , which means 'how many times the rotating part of the generator rotates in one minute'. 'Power factor' again has no units. An explanation of what it is? I'll come back to that later (or someone else can) .
