Q:what is diesel power plan or station & how it is work?: In diesel power plant the power is produced by a Diesel Engine. The diesel engine used may be 2 stroke or four stroke It is used only for small amount of power production Working: Diesel engine is coupled with generators or alternator for generating electricity

Q:i think having a back up generator at my home would be useful in case of winter power disruptions however and although the new generation generators are quiet enough to stand next to where would I stand with electricity suppliers ?: No you cannot. You must place the generator outside the building and for that you need management or HOA approval.

Q:I have a 3 phase 30k 60hz generator what would I need to do to use this to power my home ?: If the voltage is correct and you have access to the neutral the transfer switch is required by NEC. The electrical connections are neutral to the grounded conductor and one line to one leg and another line to the other leg with the 3rd phase isolated. Since the configuration of 3 phase generators may vary it is best to have a qualified professional electrician who has experience with them do the work. Some generators are Y configuration but others are a delta configuration with a tapped neutral. This will result in 1 high leg voltage which will damage electrical equipment. This size generator is best powered by diesel. Hope this helps. I repeat get an electrician who has worked on these units they are seldom a DIY for emergency power for a home most systems are single phase 120/240 volt 60 HZ in North America.

Q:I read about it in an old Mother Earth news (1993?) The car was mainly powered by the gen. The batteries would only kick-in for hills, boost of power, etc. I am interested in this design, anyone know if it works well? Can I use a 480volt 3ph gen-set to power motor/Drive for more efficiency/power? I already know about the volt,prius,leaf.: On the web a few years ago, and this was ultimately sold on OKorder; was a Geo metro that was modified to run strictly on a 10 horsepower/7500 KW Lister clone/Listeroid Diesel engine imported from India. On a level surface, it could get to 55 Mph/88KPH if you did not mind the slow acceleration. Going up hill it would slow down considerably. They ran it with WVO and did better than 75 MPG. If you stick with a lightweight car, or light small pickup truck like a Chevy Luv, or similar vintage Mazda or Datsun, you could see reasonable results. You would have tradeoffs to consider as well, since batteries are heavy. Options to consider for your use- Aircraft starter generators for the drive motors. Diesel as your fuel for your genset. If you opt for one that has limited external monitoring circuitry, that will lighten the load some.

Q:If it is that equation then if i ran a 500 gallon diesel generator under full loadsaying at about 3.5MPG will i get 1250 hours to get 52 days?!?!?!? or am i off on equation or my theory????: Conversion? They are calculating two different things. The reason something would be measured in work hours instead of mileage is for the fact the equipment does not in fact travel under its own load or it spends more time at a stand still. Work hours tend to be used on a lot of construction equipment and other things that stay stationary for long amounts of time thus creating wear on the unit though it is not moving and adding miles so they use hours to calculate how old the unit is or when it needs to be serviced next. You can never get an actual equality from these two different units as one measures time usage/fuel and one measures distance/fuel if you were calculating to find a run time for example. ***additional*** There would be no equation for MPG that you are looking for if converting from hours. Are you looking for how much fuel is consumed over a length of time? That's the only way to calculate fuel consumption would be over time vs. over a distance as MPG is.

Q:I need a generator that will power alot of stuff, preferably cheap as possible, or any other power source of that kind.it will need to power about 5 normal appliances and a 600w bulbany ideas: Cheap as possible - go Chinese if you want to use it once a year and don't care if it goes paf at any time. Honda makes some good units if you want quality and back up. You need to add up the power draw of your five normal applications and your 600w lighting load. Add 25% and the unit will be adequate. If your appliances have induction motors you will have to have at least three times the rated power of the motor(s) to get them to start safely. If you need more than 3000 watts of constant power you should consider diesel, for longevity go for slow speed i.e.1500 or 1800 rpm engine speed. Price will range from $400 for a 2500w Chinese thingy up to at least $14,000 for a fully enclosed automatic 12KvA super silenced slow speed diesel unit on a slide. Running costs get high with the bigger petrol units. Inverters are good, but you will still have to generate power some how for the batteries - wind, water, solar, generator etc. Will be more expensive to set up but will be better long term for a cabin or similar. Q:for a diesel generator of about 113 HP. What is the typical exhaust temperature?: i ve worked on a 440kw engine as a general rule the exhaust temperatures are never let to go in excess of 400 degrees. normal exhaust temperature at 300 kw was 350 deg celsius.
