Q:I Have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with the chipset fan going at over 6000 RPM, an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with the CPU fan at about 3000 RPM, and a GeForce 6200LE with a very high pitched fan that's dead annoying. To cut a long story short, my PC makes way more noise than it should be, now I don't have any case fans installed but that shouldn't mean that it has to make this sort of howling, believe me, if you were sitting next to it, you'd understand where I'm comin from, it's like tryin to sleep at night with a diesel generator in your room while it's downloading stuff. The fans shouldn't need to spin that fast as the average temp is about 30-40 degrees Celsius across all the components. Anyone know what I should try? Cheers Sam The Bam: I had this problem, and one day, my computer just stopped. in fact, its sitting in the chair behind me. but it ended up being the CPU fan, put some thermal paste between it and your motherboard. Check your local Best Buy or Office Depot. but whatever you do, DO NOT TRY TO UNPLUG THE FAN! i did and my computer caught on fire (its not funny :[ ). And as a matter of fact, i can sleep with a diesel genereator beside me fine, im used to the noise, i sleep with a fan. ffs.

I've access to all of the machines.which are needed in this project.i know about how the engine works.i don't know how piston rings and piston seals the combustion chamber,how to make them.how much power will my generator will generate.i wan't to make this generator for my PC.: With respect, you're actually asking how to design and build your own engine. There are entire books on the subject, and you need plenty of diagrams as well. That's far beyond the scope of an answer on here. But if all you need is a 12v regulated dc power supply why not just get a model car or boat engine and see if you can hook it up to a car alternator from a scrapped vehicle via a suitable pulley gearing? It certainly won't be quiet though, and you'll need to ensure that the engine is either fan or water cooled and that there's a suitable exhaust outlet. Model diesel engines aren't very large, but there are larger scale copies of the old British Mills engine design made in India, and also various websites which give you details or sell you plans on how to build your own. Usually they have lapped pistons so don't need the complication of piston rings.

They are calculating two different things. The reason something would be measured in work hours instead of mileage is for the fact the equipment does not in fact travel under its own load or it spends more time at a stand still. Work hours tend to be used on a lot of construction equipment and other things that stay stationary for long amounts of time thus creating wear on the unit though it is not moving and adding miles so they use hours to calculate how old the unit is or when it needs to be serviced next. You can never get an actual equality from these two different units as one measures time usage/fuel and one measures distance/fuel if you were calculating to find a run time for example. ***additional*** There would be no equation for MPG that you are looking for if converting from hours. Are you looking for how much fuel is consumed over a length of time? That's the only way to calculate fuel consumption would be over time vs. over a distance as MPG is.

Q:I am looking into using solar energy and generators for commercial use. Using the solar energy during the day is a piece of cake obviously. But I would need a backup generator for night-time use. If I were to get a commercial grade backup generator, could I essentially recharge it during the day while it is not in use? Any other suggestions that this route are welcome. Maybe even a backup storage (battery) for the the excess solar energy. Something to store the unused energy?: Generator is a vague word. Assuming you are using it to mean motor-generator sets which have a gas or diesel engine driving an alternator. No, you can't charge a motor generator set, it runs on gasoline or diesel fuel, you can't convert sunlight or electricity to fuel. But, you can use excess power during the day to charge batteries that can be later used to supply power. Note that battery storage can be expensive, and needs a lot of space and maintenance. .
