Q:Does Stainless Steel rust?
No it won't rust. Just make sure to get the pool water out of the piercing when done at the pool. Just to avoid drying out the skin too much.
Q:Will a stainless steel ring rust, or tarnish?
Stainless Steel does not rust...that is why it is used in our kitchens and the top kitchens of the world...!! sorry...Stainless Steel does not Tarnish either!
Q:Does steel contain nickel?
Steel okorder.com/... So take a magnet to the steel in question: if the magnet sticks, the steel is unlikely to contain nickel.
Q:How lighter than steel is carbon fiber?
In most applications, you do not want to make the graphite fiber composite object the same size as the steel object. You want it to have the same strength. So... the benefit of using the composite is not just the difference in density. What you really want to compare is the specific strength and you can define this slightly differently depending on your application. As a simple example, suppose you need to hang a weight of 100 pounds from a beam with a bar (so the load is pure tension) and not have the weight permanently stretch the bar (so stress in the bar is less than the yield stress). You can calculate the cross sectional area of steel and compare that to the cross sectional area of the graphite fiber composite required. If your application is more complicated, say it has to support the load and flex up to 10 degrees and survive some impact loading and operate at a max temperature of 200C, then you have more homework to do to select the best material. And... if you are not rich enough so that money is no object, you also need to consider the cost.
Q:Moravia’s coal and steel industries face challenges because they _____.?
do not run efficiently is the correct answer
Q:How to sharpen a knife with the stone and the steel?
If you are lucky and have a whet stone block you need some patience water or light machine oil. Take your time and work in circular motion at a slight angle as to put an edge where you want it. I tend to think of it like polishing and work the length of the blade. If you work with a steel you are suppose to pull the blade across the steel at an angle. I have forgotten the angle but if you attempt this you soon find that you can associate a certain feel of the way the blade crosses the steel and know when you have it right and check the blade periodically until you have it the way you want it. There are some other sharpeners out there where you just draw the blade thru a device and they work as well. I was taught the old ways with the stone and the steel and don't know the actual prescribed angles but can tell you that you will be able to eye ball the angle and you don't have to use heavy pressure. These processes won't work on a serrated blade!
Q:can i heat treat and temper ASTM A36 steel?
A36 is plain carbon structural steel. A36 could almost be considered junk steel. It is not suitable for cutting tools in any respect, as it is far to soft to hold an edge. A36 generally cannot be heat-treated, A36 can only be strengthened by cold-working, and even then, only up to about 60,000 psi. Heating the steel will only make it softer. The only real virtue of A36 is that it's easy to work with, it's easily cut and machined and it is very easy to weld. This is good for making steel structure, but not for knives. Probably the most popular material for knife blades is type 440C stainless. 440C is easy to work with in the un-treated state, and the heat treatment procedure is relatively simple.
Q:Is my shotgun able to shoot steel?
It's fine. Like .700 Nitro said, lead is a softer metal than steel. . BTW- Tom, grow up. I doubt you have ever been hunting in your life. What the he!! does someone's S.S number have to do with hunting? Nothing jack $$. Here's some advice for you- follow me around for a few days down here... It will cost you a little bit more than $15 per hour. Down here, a guy will actually realize that he as family jewels.
Q:AR-15 rounds - steel vs. brass?
Steel is a far more common thus cheaper metal than brass which is made of copper and zinc. The steel case stays in the firing chamber so does not do a thing to the barrel. It does have a different coefficient of expansion and when the gun gets hot it could jam in the chamber more than brass. Some of the steel has a lacquer coating on it that could gum up the works. The biggest disadvantage with steel is that as it is worked it gets weaker so reloading it is not real practical as you will get a lot of blown cases and head separations. In the long run you come out ahead buying brass and reloading than you do buying steel and throwing it away.
Q:Heat Resistant Chemical for Steel?
There is, but I don't know what it is made out of. It is probably some fireproof, foam material which acts like insulation. I doubt it is designed to resist abrasion however. Most things which adhere to metal surfaces are not flameproof, and those which do resist fire are not good insulators. For example, the ceramic coating of appliances like stoves and washing machines adhere very well and are fire resistant, but do not insulate. It was the failure of the steel insulation which caused the collapse of the world trade centers. The impact of the airplane tore away all the insulation on the supporting struts of the building and then the fire caused the steel to soften and break. Steel was once insulated by wrapping it in asbestos cloth and then applying plaster over this to form a shell. It did not actually adhere to the steel but it did insulate it, and was fireproof. However asbestos is a cancer hazard and a lot of old buildings are being stripped of their asbestos as a safety precaution. The asbestos can be replaced with fiberglass which is usually duct taped together.
