Description

PPGI-Pre-painted galvanised iron is also known as pre-coated steel, typically with a hot dip zinc coated steel substrate.

The term is an extension of GI which is a traditional abbreviation for Galvanised Iron. The term GI typically refers to essentially pure zinc (>99%) continuously hot dip coated steel, as opposed to batch dip processes. PPGI refers to factory pre-painted zinc coated steel, where the steel is painted before forming, as opposed to post painting which occurs after forming.

The hot dip metallic coating process is also used to manufacture steel sheet and coil with coatings of aluminium, or alloy coatings of zinc/aluminium, the coating which may also be factory pre-painted.

Q:Can stainless steel cut well?
There are many kinds of stainless steel. 440c, 420j, ATS34, and so on. Cold steel uses 420 type steels in several of their products. High carbon stainless steels cut well but edge retention is not very good but that also depends on the heat treating of the metal. I could go on all day but very, very basically stainless steels lack the shatter resistance necessary when stretched to great lengths. This is in part why other steels make far better swords. The stuff sold on QVC is just plain junk. Do not buy a stainless steel sword. A blade made of 440S means it belongs hung on a wall...
Q:Is steel in spacecraft Ulysses?
Reach the core of the sun? No material can even get past the corona of the sun, where did you hear Ulysses went to the core? The spacecraft Ulysses orbits the sun at about 5 au. that's 5 times the earths orbit.. Steel is used instead of Iron because steel is much stronger and therefore you can use smaller 'bolts' to accomplish the same thing, reducing the weight. As far as most structures are concerned steel is better than plain Iron in every category. So Iron is worse i guess.
Q:Types of steel buildings?
There are a number of designs which can be used to create different types of steel buildings as per the demands of the buyer or an investor. he various kinds of that can be constructed using steel are Homes, Hangars, Agriculture and Farm buildings for storage, Garages and Storage sheds, Open air sheds,, Barns, Arenas and stadiums, Automotive buildings with overhead doors and flexible framed openings, Religious buildings such as Churches and Temples, etc.
Q:Are cold steel swords durable?
Yes. Cold Steel is a great company with a quality product, and I've always been happy with their work. Their katanas, while not made in the traditional method, are heavy duty carbon steel and should handle abuse well. I'd recommend them based on my experience with other Cold Steel products.
Q:Can raccoon bite through steel?
Well the raccoons can't bite through steel unless it is very thin steel, like aluminum foil thickness. But they have long arms and can reach into the cage so that would be my worry. They are also very clever so I don't know if it is safe for the bunny. That would depend upon the size of the cage and how hungry the raccoons are. The raccoons might be tempted to try to steal the bunny's food so that is a concern. Check with a pet shop owner or forester or someone like that who has knowledge about raccoons in the area.
Q:Surgical Steel Piercing Reaction?
Surgical Piercing
Q:Where can I go to find out info about different blade steels online?
White steel is a common shorthand name for white paper steel (shirogami hagane) which can be any of several fairly simple high carbon, water hardening steel grades. The carbon content varies by grade, and runs from 0.8 to 1.4%. The range of carbon content within a grade is a tight 0.1%. For example, the carbon content of Shirogami Hagani No1A is specified to be between 1.3 and 1.4%. Each grade also contains 0.1-0.2% silicon and 0.2-0.3% manganese, and only trace amounts of the impurities sulfur and phosphorus. Blue paper steel (aogami hagane) is also offered in several grades, with carbon content ranging similarly to the white grades. However, blue steel contains the additional alloying elements chromium and tungsten, and one grade (aogami super) also contains molybdenum and vanadium. The blue steels can be quenched in water or oil, whereas most of the white grades need a faster quench and require water.
Q:Foam Steel Characteristics and use?
Foam steel [often steel foam] is used in applications that require light weight but high rigidity and strength. Watertight doors on modern ships are often made of foam steel. Pressure doors on aircraft are possible uses. As we keep striving for lighter weights in cars, foam steel might have some useful applications in bodies. There is a technical paper online that is in .pdf format that has a good discussion of the process and characteristics of foam steel.
Q:What is cold steel ?!?
Cold Steel is a Ventura, California-based marketer of knives, swords and other edged weapons and tools. Cold Steel was founded in 1980 by company president, Lynn C. Thompson.[1] Its products are manufactured in various countries including Japan, Taiwan, China and India.[2] Cold Steel's products include fixed blade knives, folding knives, swords, machetes, tomahawks, kukris, blowguns, walking sticks, and other martial arts related items.[1] Many of their knives are also made using VG-1 Stainless Steel,4116 Krupp Stainless Steel, 1055 Carbon Steel, SK-5 High Carbon Steel, and AUS 8A Stainless Steel.[3]
Q:Do steel cartridge cases take less pressure than brass cases?
The ammo loaded in steel casing has a tendency to be loaded at lower pressures, for some reason. Most if not all of the steel case is of foreign manufacture. No reason steel can't be loaded to same pressures to that of brass, would probably seal better. Most of the calibers you describe in steel cases go in weapons with loose tolerances, like the AK. Lot of times, the steel won't seal in the chamber, creating blow by, putting crud in the chamber. This condition makes it hard to feed, chamber, and extract in a tight dimension chamber that is present in NATO weapons. AK's, due to more generous tolerances, won't be sensitive to this.. Weapons from NATO are of more tightly toleranced chambers like the AR, HK, Barret, etc. where brass is more reliable in sealing, and minimizes the blow by and keeps things clean, or at least more clean than a steel case that may not seal.
