Q:Is steel in spacecraft Ulysses?
Steel might have been used in some bolts sure. But.....are you under the impression that Ulysses was ever intended to crash into the Sun or something? You know it wasn't right? It was launched (in the 1980's) to study the Sun. But....uh.....not by crashing into it. Ulysses was even sent out to use Jupiter as a gravitational assist. We are closer to the Sun than Ulysses is..... Even if it did go crash into the Sun though there is absolutely no way that ANY material, natural or manmade, could survive intact all the way to the core of a star. It takes photons of LIGHT something like 100,000 years just to make it out from the core of the Sun to the surface because it is so dense. How do you propose a metal probe making it back the other way? Would it have worse effects than what? The effects, no matter what it was made out of, would be that as it got CLOSE to the Sun it would vaporize. No matter what it was made out of though it would have no affect whatsoever on the Sun. Every single element, without exception, that exists on the Earth and everywhere else in our solar system also exists in the Sun already, in far greater quantities. The planets and Sun all formed out of the same nebula at the same time. The Sun just got massive enough that fusion began and it became a star. There is already more iron in the Sun than there is everything on Earth. If you took every single atom of every element there is on the Earth it would still not add up to even a fraction of the total amount of iron in the Sun.
Q:is 440 stainless steel good for throwing knives?
Good steel ain't cheap, cheap steel ain't good... If you're just starting out (practicing anyways), I would be less concerned about the material and more concerned about the style and shape of the blade to gain consistency in your technique... When you start getting proficient for competitions and such... then I'd start investigating steel grades... Anyways, here's a summary from the wiki: Type 440—a higher grade of cutlery steel, with more carbon, allowing for much better edge retention when properly heat-treated. It can be hardened to approximately Rockwell 58 hardness, making it one of the hardest stainless steels. Due to its toughness and relatively low cost, most display-only and replica swords or knives are made of 440 stainless. Available in four grades: 440A, 440B, 440C, and the uncommon 440F (free machinable). 440A, having the least amount of carbon in it, is the most stain-resistant; 440C, having the most, is the strongest and is usually considered more desirable in knifemaking than 440A, except for diving or other salt-water applications.
Q:Better Movie: Man of Steel or Captain America; The First Avenger?
Pretty hard, I feel like Captain America The First Avenger had less flaws, but I more enjoyed Man Of Steel. I don't know why people didn't like how Cap first started out with advertising/singing and all that. I actually applauded Marvel for having the guts to stay true to the character's origin. Henry Cavill has the best look for Superman in my opinion, but I do agree with the critics that say he doesn't reflect the character's personality accurately. He's too dark, reminds me of Batman, but if he talked less. I disagree with the Superman killing conflict. True, the character is not a killer, but that's exactly why they wrote that in. Internal character conflict. Put him at war with himself. Plus, it gave the grand opportunity to give Doomsday his new origin, which I kinda liked. In the end, I'll say Man Of Steel, they really dove deep into that movie, it was well written and had a great plot. I loved seeing and learning more of Krypton. Crazy how I'm not even a huge Superman fan
Q:Key differences between the term structural steel fabrication & steel fabrication?
Structural steel is steel construction material, a profile, formed with a specific shape or cross section and certain standards of chemical composition and strength. Structural steel shape, size, composition, strength, storage, etc, is regulated in most industrialized countries. Fabrication, when used as an industrial term, applies to the building of machines, structures and other equipment, by cutting, shaping and assembling components made from raw materials. Small businesses that specialize in metal are called fab shops. Steel fabrication shops and machine shops have overlapping capabilities, but fabrication shops generally concentrate on the metal preparation, welding and assembly aspect while the machine shop is more concerned with the machining of parts.
Q:Steel Case V.S. Brass Case ammo?
Depends what your gun is. I wouldn't shoot steel through a 5,000 dollar gun but my SKS jams up with anything except steel ammo. It adds wear to some guns but in most cases you won't shoot enough to cause any real problems. They also make steel that is coated in lacquer that protects your gun a little. In most cases steel is no big deal, in high performance weapons I would say no.
Q:Why should I use stainless steel cookware?
I can't understand why you're having difficulty. My pans are as good as the day they were bought.I would never return to non-stick after having my stainless steel pans! Non stick coatings come off in the food-yuk! What are you cooking in them? Are you trying to wash them in the dishwasher? That never works well. I always put water in mine if I've done a custard or stew, beans or things like that, for a little soak before washing by hand in hot soapy water. They really are great even when I have burnt something, because you can scrape the burn with a sharp implement and you do no damage at all to the pan. I highly recommend them.
Q:Where to buy silicon steel?
Electrical Steel Suppliers
Q:Nylon Or Steel Guitar FAST ANSWER!!!?
Clearly it's nylon strings. Didn't you ask this before? You can hear the difference in tone, and the construction of the guitar is different than a steel stringed model.
Q:how to forge damascus steel?
hand made folding knife English tip, blade of Damascus metallic sort Rose, 2,5mm thickness, no liners, teja spring embellished by using metallic report and billet surrounded of chrome metallic. A Damascus blade knife is characterised by using a wavy, mottled visual allure on the blade that’s led to by using the approach used to shape the metallic. the technique of transforming into Damascus metallic is derived from a centuries-previous forging technique used to create blades that grew to become very just about mythical of their attractiveness for power and sharpness it exchange into reported a Damascus knife ought to shrink with the aid of a rifle barrel to boot as with the aid of a hair falling on the blade.
Q:Why should you heat thicker steel before welding?
For most mild steel, it is not necessary to preheat the steel, even in thick sections. Preheating, as well as maintaining interpass temperatures is sometime used when welding high-strength or high-performance steels. This reduces the likelihood of weld cracks. Mild steel is ductile enough that weld cracks aren't usually a problem. Preheating reduces the speed at which the weld cools and solidifies. in high-strength steels, this produces a more ductile microstructure in the weld and heat affected zone, thus reducing the possibility of hot and cold cracks. This also may improve some of the mechanical properties of the H.A.Z., such as impact toughness. The slower cooling rate allows more time for hydrogen to diffuse out of the weld, reducing the potential for hydrogen embrittlement. Hydrogen is produced when water vapor reacts with the steel at high temperatures, producing iron oxide and hydrogen gas. Some steels can be damaged by even relatively small amounts of hydrogen. Electrodes used in flux core arc welding and in shielded metal arc welding often contain fluxes which tend to absorb moisture from the air. Also, rust and mill scale contain water molecules which are chemically bound to the iron atoms. Note that hydrogen embrittlement is generally not an issue with mild steel, due to it's low carbon and alloy content. Preheating also reduces shrinkage stresses, due to the slower cooling rate. This is beneficial in parts which are heavily restrained, or where distortion is a particular concern.
