- Q:I am using a device to push small volumes (60-100cc) through a plastic tube with a length of approx 24 and a diameter of 1mm or less. I can control flow rate, generally 2-4cc/sec. The liquid has a higher viscosity than water. I am trying to determine the difference in pressure on the piston face (which remains a constant size) using different fluids with slightly different viscosities through tubing of the same length, and differences in pressure using the same fluid through different tubing lengths. Ie; Fluid A and Fluid B through Tube 1, and Fluid A through Tube 1 and 2. The tubes are the same material, same diameter, regardless of length. The pressure used to push the piston remains the same across all fluid/tubing combinations.
- If the flow is not turbulent (no high speeds) and incompressible, and the tube is of circular cross section, then Poiseuille Law flow will ensue. In Poiseuille flow through a cylindrical pipe the velocity is largest along the centerline of the tube and diminishes to zero at the inner wall quadratically with distance r: v(r) = c (R^2 - r^2) with c a constant for given viscosity and pressure gradient ( delta(p) / L ) In Poiseuille flow through a cylindrical pipe the rate of flow (volume/second) is given by Qdot, where Qdot = ( Delta(p) pi R^4 ) /(8 eta L). (where eta is the dynamic viscosity of the fluid) Since the pressure difference Delta(p) is the pressure on the piston face - ambient pressure , let's call this (p - p0) , you have p - p0 = ( 8 eta L) * Qdot /(pi R^4) Using this Poiseuille' s Law you can calculate the pressure on the piston. You say at the end of your question that the pressure used to push is kept constant. In that case the flow rate you measure should be inversely proportional to eta and L.
- Q:i am designing something that has a frame of tubing that its relaxed when there is no air pressure in it, but becomes straight and reletivley rigid when when you put air presure in it.
- The 2 foot diameter nylon sleeves filled with low pressure air that you see for advertising displays. If you try to use small diameter tubing, with flexible plastic tubing, it won't work. The closest tubing that does work is specially made for pressure gauges, and it just slightly uncoils under pressure.

- With a hand spring type small dredge, about 100-200 yuan a. It can be used in drilling for non rigid blockages, especially for food scraps or hair jams. If you need to use the rigid block, high power pipeline dredging machine, it can be called the mortar block about five cm, if not by coming down under the water, may your pipe is in the wall, but from the architecture, no one will put water in the main wall so, the problem does not affect the removal of bearing.
- Q:My son had ear tubes inserted about two years ago. I have always used drops in his ears and cleaned them, etc. Sometimes I would look in them with a flashlight to make sure they were ok and not leaking, (When you get an ear infection with tubes, your ears drain some). Today I was doing just that with a flashlight and I actually saw the tubes in both ears..I never noticed this before and I am a VERY observant mother. Could this mean they are getting loose or close to falling out?? Or is it just that I never noticed before. I did try to see them when he first got the tubes, but I never could. Today, out of nowhere I could see these white plastic tubes?? He has been very cranky and irritable, but can't seem to pinpoint where he isn't feeling well. Does losing your tubes (if that is what it is) cause some discomfort?? I imagine it would...anything involving your ears doesn't feel very good. Any medical professionals or experienced parents with any good thoughts???
- i strongly suggest to bring him to his ENT doctor. have it checked.. you can only visualize it through an otoscope and not a flashlight. if you can see it something might be wrong. so have it checked now
