Q:Hiking with steel toe-capped boots?
Steel toed boots are very heavy compared to hiking boots, after a long hike (especially in rough terrain) the extra weight is gonna tire you out. Steel toes are made for things like construction, or doing a task where extra protection of the toe is needed. So it's not ideal, but whatever floats your boat man (better than wearing tennis shoes). I personally have Converse composite toed boots from my airsofting days and since im too cheap to buy dedicated hike boots, I use it for hiking. Its supposedly made for military use and is much lighter than steel toe. But WAIT!!! lets say you dont have a gun or knife and you run into a pissed off Sasquatch, a steel toe boot too the nutz would do well in puttin the hurt on the dude.
Q:whats the best steel to make a huge knife?
Well okorder.com/
Q:timber truss versus steel truss?
U will to find details on metal trussesin constructing materials AND development through BINDRA AND ARORA and u may additionally to find them in MCKAY(B.M.C).About steel doors and windows search the net u can search in google or yahoo u will to find it . Ok bye bye all of the exceptional.
Q:Is Diamond stronger than Steel?
Diamond is harder than steel, as diamond can scratch steel, but steel can't scratch diamond. However, I think steel is more structurally stable than diamond. Besides, how can you afford diamond girders, not even mentioning the impossibility of making a diamond that large.
Q:Pistol Polymer Frames? Good as Steel? Walther P22 OK?
Walther P22 Frame
Q:how do I convert my house to be built to a steel stud home?
Steel is going to be a whole different world. You will need to go back to square one and get house plans that are drawn for structural steel. First thing you need to do is find a builder that knows how to build with steel and get an idea of the price.
Q:are surgical stainless steel and surgical steel the same thing?
There are different grades of surgical steel. I'd look for something that says, implant surgical steel. I have the same trouble as your mother, but my daughter's is worse. This is not saying that you will have problems. but better safe!
Q:difference between steel and fiberglass?
Why not go one better. An aluminum mesh would be lighter than both for the same size and would not need to be painted. It would probably be more expensive than the steel however.
Q:Is carbon steel strong?
The term carbon steel by itself doesn't mean much. All steel has carbon in it. The definition of steel is iron that has been heated and had carbon dissolved into it and trapped on cooling into its atomic matrix. The amount of carbon in a particular piece of steel does have an effect on its properties. The more carbon it has, the harder it is, but also the more brittle it is. So you can have a high carbon steel blade which is very hard, and holds a great edge, but is likely to break. Or you can have a low carbon steel blade that is very tough and hard to break, but dulls easily. Your real, traditional samurai swords were made to have a core of low carbon steel, jacketed with an outer layer of high carbon steel. Thus they were very strong and hard to break, yet had an extremely hard, sharp edge. If that's what you have you can probably whack away to your hearts content. But you probably have some kind of homogenous steel reproduction type blade. What you can do depends on what steel was used.
Q:1. What has a higher bending strength: stainless steel 304 or chrome vanadium steel?
Type 304 stainless steel can be tempered to give tensile strength up to about 125,000 psi. There are many chrome vanadium alloys, and tempers, but they are generally very hard steels used for machine tools which are used to cut other steels. They generally are much stronger, and can be hardened up to tensile strengths of 250,000 psi and beyond. (Bending strength is proportional to tensile strength, but Cr-V steels are not usually used for beams or other structure members.) Cr-V steels are specialty alloys and will probably be a good bit more expensive per pound than common stainless alloys. For any steel, price depends on the form you are buying, i.e. plate, bar, or other shape, as well as the alloy and temper specified, and the quantity. You need to get prices from a supplier. You can find some online catalogs, but you usually have to call the vendor for price info.
