Q:Im applying going for a pre apprenticeship next month and I‘m not sure which one to choose from, electrician or wall and floor tiling? I think electrician pays more but you need to be a bit smarter the I am and I‘m afraid I won‘t do well. Or I could just to.. You know tiling not that hard. I‘m from Western Australia if that helps knowing the best jobs for my state. Thank you :)
Tiling is very hard on your knees and back. I would go for the electrician job. In America heat and air conditioning pays the best by far. Good luck! Let us know what you decide.
Q:I have a few small pits (about 1/16 in diameter, very shallow into the tile) that have developed in some old ceramic tile in my foyer (it may be from some salt that was tracked into the foyer over the winter). Is there a good way to repair it?
I would try 'tile and grout sealer. These products are easy to apply and once dried are very hard. Go to your home supply store and look at a few different types and see what would work best for you application. Most people don't understand that tile needs to be sealed and re-sealed every year or two, especially in high traffic areas and where there will be a lot of dirt or water track across them.
Q:is there another way to cut tiles ?i dont have a tile cutter , thanks
you can rent one from Home Depot
Q:My new home has a kitchen with glazed ceramic tiles covering most of the walls. The colour is basically honey brown, but there‘s a hideous purple border (in the same tile size shape) running horizontally vertically all over the place - I‘d say that 20% of the tiles are this colour.I want to reduce all the tiles to one (new) colour. Two guys (both pros) have this to say:GUY 1: Cheapest solution (and least noisy/disruptive) is to use a ‘glass enamel paint‘ over the tiles. I went online and found several manufacturers of this stuff.GUY 2: Scoffed at this and said there was no other way than retiling the whole kitchen.Guy 1 is adamant that it can be done, and the job will last if enough care is taken in preparing the surface. Is he right?Has anyone tried this ‘re-enamelling‘ technique, and were the results OK?Thanks!
Ok yes you can paint them, and yes it will hold up, and yes i do paint and also install ceramic so i do know what im talking about. You need to clean them very good with TSP. Buy a good primer such as kilz but i think home depot has an even better one so check that out. After you prime it put oon a good interior enamal like Behr . Probable 2 coats for best results. A spong roller is best but if you can rent or borrowe a sprayer and get the best results. there about 40 dollars for the day to rent. easy to use. Just tape everything off and use alot of drop cloths.
Q:My tile is ugly mint green. nothing matches.I would like to know if I can paint this without it looking tacky.
I have seen tile painted before. You have to get a special type of paint to paint tile. Go to the website below and search for painting tile. I have seen something on here before about this.
Q:I am looking at purchasing a home but on the disclosure form from the seller, it shows that there is asbetos tiles on the basement floor.I know asbetos is a problem but in this case how much would it cost to remove it? should this be a deal breaker?
Carpet, Tiles and floating floors.
Q:I need to install tiles on the floors of a 500 square foot apartment. I am torn between ceramic tile and vinyl. What is the price differential in terms of materials and labor? In otherwords: in total, how much would I pay to have the entire apartment tiled in ceramic vs. vinyl? Please note I am not a DIY person AT ALL so approximate labor prices are crucial. Thanks!
vinyl tile would be a lot cheaper..off the top of my head and if the place is empty and the floor that the vinyl tile is going over is in good shape, you are probably looking at around 800 dollars........ceramic maybe 3 to 4 thousand......these figures are far from exact but the vinyl tiles could probably be finished in a day, whereas, the ceramic could take 4 to 5 days in all.........
Q:The ceramic tile in my shower is looking really shabby and I‘d like to re-do it in subway tiles on the walls and mini hexagonal tiles on the floor. Has anyone ever re-tiled an old shower? What should I keep in mind? It is a single story house that is about 30 years old and I beleive it is all the original stuff.
this work is for a mason , but if you plan to do it. take the following steps. 1. chissel the existing tile in such a way that you don't actually dig it out and make wall look like a seasoned cheese. 2. bye a quick settling cement for smoothing the floor and wall and simultaneously apply new tiles. thats it. but it is difficult
Q:Should I put in a ceramic tile shower or cultured marble shower? Which would provide a better return when selling the house?
I would go with the tile. In fact, we just ripped out our tuba and shower to replace cultured marble. The marble is a little dated right now and will only look more so in the future. Our house is only about 10 years old but the cultured marble looks a little too '70's and '80's to me. Also, there are many more choices for style and color with tile and it gives you the opportunity to customize the look with much more detail. Let's put it this way, when my wife and I were looking for tile ideas, I visited quite a few new home constructions sites in nice areas....houses in the 700K to $1 million dollar range. In every case, all the bathrooms were tile jobs, not a single cultured marble bathroom. If you do decide to tile, you probably want to consider tile that would appeal to most people. You want to stay away from the shiny, 4 ceramic tiles in bold colors that were popular years ago. Today, natural stone or natural stone looking ceramics are very popular.
Q:Which is good for acid resistant tiles
Hao Ran acid brick brick structure is compact, water absorption is small, can withstand any concentration of acid and alkaline media, with excellent anti-corrosion effect.
