Q:What is a good carpet cleaner for removing odor?
If you have pets that often mess on carpets, you may want to not reinstall carpets. Instead, once you can afford it, consider installing a hard surface that's easier to clean, such as tile or etc. When you do clean, use an enzyme cleaner, to eliminate the Oh, this is my piddle place smell that will cause them to reuse that spot. For now, to help the carpets stink less, put baking soda all over the carpet, and let it sit for a half hour or longer. Then vacuum it up. This will not remove the deep-set pet odors that are in the carpet pad, but it will help remove the odor in the carpet itself, which can only help. Baking soda can work wonders with odors. But if the odors are in the carpet pad, as I suspect they are, any product is only going to help so much. I know others say you can get a steam cleaner and clean the carpets, but in my experience, all this does is release the hounds. It activates any old, dormant pet odors in the carpet pad, and makes the situation worse. So I'm not so sure of this one. Maybe a professional carpet cleaning company... but I make no promises on that.
Q:What would be the essential rugs?
The bare minimum to keep a horse out all year: 1 x heavy weight winter turnout, with detachable neck. 1 x medium turnout rug, with detachable neck 1 x lightweight turnout, with or without neck 2 x under-rug layer blankets for really cold or in between days. That should be fine, in the deepest darkest winter you can put on your heavyweight with neck and under rugs, when it gets a little warmer you can just put on the heavyweight with no neck, the autumn/early spring you can use the medium, on extra cold nights put on the under rugs, and then when you get to summer you can use your lightweight. Other rugs: Incase your horse ever needs to be stabled, i'd get 1 x medium stable rug. 1 x fly rug/sheet for the summer Also, you might want a cooler fleece that your horse can wear to cool off after exercise etc You can also use a cooler as a travel rug/show rug, or you could buy another one. You may want an exercise sheet, to wear while riding, this will keep your horse warm and dry :) Never put rugs (apart from a cooler) on a sweaty/rained on/wet horse, because he will get a serious chill. If you get in from riding and he's really sweaty/wet, either put the cooler on under the turnout rug, or walk him around for 10 mins till he dries off, and then put on your turnout rugs. If you're on a really tight budget, and you don't ride to compete, and your horse is quite a sturdy, hardy type, you could probably get by with 1 heavyweight and 1 medium turnout, nothing else.
Q:Does anyone know how to clean a fake sheepskin rug?
stick it in a duvet cover tie a knot in the cover so the rug wont fall out. put it on a cool wool wash. when you take it out of the washer fluff up the fur with ur hand and a hairdryer gently then drape over a radiator to dry fluffy side facing up ! (when it comes out the washer it will look a raggy mess so you have got to fluff it up with the hairdryer.
Q:How to replace carpet that is moldy?
You can clean a carpet, but if it has been wet and has a pad under the carpet, you will have to cut the carpet loose at the wall and remove the pad from under the carpet. You can not clean that and the mold smell is in the pad. Either replace the pad or just leave it out. I never put pad under carpet. Now clean the carpet and add some mildew killer to the cleaning agent. They sell this at Lowes and Home Depot. Reattach the carpet at the wall with a carpet tacker prior to cleaning as it might shrink otherwise.
Q:cleaning rugs/my wine/ pets?

Q:how to clean spots on a carpet?
Well...are they pet stains? Old or new? If they are old pet stains, it might be difficult to remove. For any type of carpet cleaning, it's best to purchase cleaner designed for your type of stain. For instance, there are cleaners created to treat and clean cat urine stains. These would be found in your stores pet/cat section and the household cleaning section. Once you get the proper cleaners, keep them on hand for the future accidents! When cleaning fresh accidents, remember to use paper towels to blot/soak up as much liquid as possible. Use the carpet cleaners according to their directions. If you have a Wet/Dry Vacuum, use that to extract the cleaner from the carpet. If worse came to worst, you might want to have the carpets professionally cleaned. For cats...please make sure you have a good litter pan that is large enough for your cat and use good litter...my cat responds well to the Tidy Cat brand. Good luck!
Q:Soap Stains in Carpet?
What did you use for a cleanser? If you used a product designed for laundry use, you may have damaged the carpet dyes permanently. If not and it is just plain soap, do what you do when you put shampoo in your hair, you rinse it out. Leaving soap ,from spotting stains, will attract dirt/soil because the residue becomes sticky and acts like a dirt magnet. For around $30.00 you can purchase a shop vac, small one of course, that will vacuum water. Rinse and suck, rinse and suck, numerous times on these spots, to remove the soapy residue. Dry with a terry cloth towel and a fan. (BOX TYPE) If you continue to allow a leaking pet on your carpet, you will be working on stains from urine for the rest of you life. If you would like further advice for removing urine from the carpeting, come back with a new question. See you
Q:Old oriental rug dissolving, need glue like product for backing?
Then it's not a real oriental rug. A true oriental carpet will be something that could be turned over and the weave would be visible on the back side; it is not held together by a rubber backing. If your carpet had rubberized backing on it, this means it was a commercial carpet with an oriental design. Those backings are not meant to last forever, and they simply deteriorate with exposure to air and the elements. There is nothing you can do to restore it, to my knowledge. The rubberized backing has broken down, and that's irreversible - part and parcel of the product that you purchased. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just this summer I had to toss two such carpets at church. One of them had backing that was dry and powdery; the other, much cheaper, had to be peeled off the hallway, and we had to spray with orange oil and go at the backing with a putty knife to remove the backing from the floor...a messy and nasty job. Be glad you never put that on the floor. You'd be cussing if you had to remove it.
Q:Do Rug Dr's Really Work? What do most Stores charge to Rent them, & How long?
My experience has been pretty good as far as cleaning ability, but the down fall to that machine is that it is designed for short people, being tall as I am 5'7 I was bend over trying to clean, left my back and neck hurting. Cost effective and the fact that you have animals and a child, and maybe more in the future, you may want to purchase your steam cleaner. The other thing to think about also, unless you get all the dirt out of your carpet and padding, once you get the top surface clean and it dries, in a week you will start seeing the spot reappearing, this is because you got all that dirt and such under the carpet and padding wet and made mud, so as you walk on it it will come back up through. Unfortantly unless you have a Kirby, your not going to get all the dirt from under the surface of the carpet. So you could be fighting this for now on. Now when cleaning your carpet, add some vinegar to the solution and spray your carpet with a product called OUT it is found in the pet isle at Walmart, this has an enzime in it that will get the urine and pet mess out of the carpet. Another possibility to limit the spots from resurfacing is go with a carpet dry cleaner, those work wonderfully as well. Most stains that you find after that will be surface stains.
