- Q:I bought a vanity made by American Standard. It has a wood-like paper applied on it, with some material (glaze or varnish etc). Can I use such paper material on the kitchen cabinets? Does it last? Where do they sell wood paper? The stain seems to be fully absorbed by the wood so it is not coming off. I dont like to paint the cabinets. However, this wood paper gives some shade/grain-like look to the bathroom vanity. I want the kitchen cabinets to look similar.
- The height of the kitchen cabinet is not really the problem, but the depth can be problematic for some people. Most kitchen base cabinets are 24 inches deep, where bathroom cabinets can be 14, 16, 18, etc. If you use the kitchen cabinet, do you have a vanity ready for this? It would be a huge sink. If you're remodeling, I'd suggest going to check out samples of bathroom vanity cabinets. The depth of the vanity varies and cultured tops can be any size. They are always on sale at Home Depot. Consider something that is not deep and something you can live with. Another option would be to consider a pedestal sink and these can be very shallow in depth. You should consider doing some customizing since you will be both using this. My wife is 5'3 using a pedestal sink and uses the mirror just fine. I had a mirror cabinet mounted 3 lower than standard and she's happy with the results. If you have that extra kitchen cabinet, don't use it in the bathroom. It will work better in the garage. It will save you grief in the long run because as you get older, you won't want to lean over the sink to get to the mirror.

- I have seen many projects where people have bought wood stripper. And they all look the same ...unfinished. What you see on TV is not quite what happens in real life. Oh sure it works good on flat surfaces.But almost all wood projects have corners and nooks and crannies. This places are hard to get to and have excess paint in them making it harder to remove it all.I do believe in most of the commercials I have seen on TV I would swear the piece of wood they were stripping had just been freshly varnished then painted which makes the paint come off even easier since the surface is new with no scratches or dents for the paint to sink into which also makes it time consuming and difficult to remove. Good luck and don't feel bad if you give up like everyone else and paint your project half way through.

- The size of your vanity depends on the size of the sink bowl so it looks cohesively proportionate. You know how kitchen farm sinks come to the edge and over the front of the counter top? Well, there are bathroom vanity sinks similar to that style. The advantage of this type of apron front sink is that the top surface can be the standard 21', however, the bottom cabinet can have less depth as the front of the sink. Thereby taking up less space, giving the illusion of more room. This may be an option for you to consider.

- Q:I want to replace a damaged one with another banjo countertop. Some suggest getting rid of it because they can seem dated. But if I did, removal would require patching and painting a wall to match other walls in this small bathroom. And the big mirror would look overpowering & unbalanced then.
