Q:What would be the essential rugs?
The bare minimum to keep a horse out all year: 1 x heavy weight winter turnout, with detachable neck. 1 x medium turnout rug, with detachable neck 1 x lightweight turnout, with or without neck 2 x under-rug layer blankets for really cold or in between days. That should be fine, in the deepest darkest winter you can put on your heavyweight with neck and under rugs, when it gets a little warmer you can just put on the heavyweight with no neck, the autumn/early spring you can use the medium, on extra cold nights put on the under rugs, and then when you get to summer you can use your lightweight. Other rugs: Incase your horse ever needs to be stabled, i'd get 1 x medium stable rug. 1 x fly rug/sheet for the summer Also, you might want a cooler fleece that your horse can wear to cool off after exercise etc You can also use a cooler as a travel rug/show rug, or you could buy another one. You may want an exercise sheet, to wear while riding, this will keep your horse warm and dry :) Never put rugs (apart from a cooler) on a sweaty/rained on/wet horse, because he will get a serious chill. If you get in from riding and he's really sweaty/wet, either put the cooler on under the turnout rug, or walk him around for 10 mins till he dries off, and then put on your turnout rugs. If you're on a really tight budget, and you don't ride to compete, and your horse is quite a sturdy, hardy type, you could probably get by with 1 heavyweight and 1 medium turnout, nothing else.
Q:change the color of my carpet...?
The easiest and surest way to change the color is to change the carpet. If the present carpet is nylon, there is no way to dye it evenly. Go to commercial carpet installer house and purchase an end run from a job of a color that works for you...you will spend far less money doing this than trying to dye a carpet that will make a mess. Choose level loop commercial carpet....will never wear out under residential use.
Q:Dirty carpet?
The great instant spot remover! Use Shaving cream. If you have a spill and have no carpet spotter available, grab the shaving cream. It is particularly effective on makeup, lipstick, cofee and tea. work into the spot well and rinse with either cold water or club soda. When you spot clean carpet, never rub, as it will only spread the stain and will cause abrashion to the carpet fibers.
Q:Is my carpet moldy???
Carpet will not provide a food source for mold unless it is contaminated with organic type spills, including food, feces, vomit, possibly urine, and blood. Mold grows when high humidity is present, normally on wood or paper, which would be the food source. You do not mention what type of spills took place on your carpet, or if you have pets. Homes with pets are among the dirtiest homes on the planet. Urine stains that penetrated the carpet, carpet pad, and made it to the wood floor, will harbor bacteria living in the alkaline urine salts. They become active during high humidity conditions and produce ammonia type odors. Unfortunatly, people attempt to spot spills and stains from their carpet with out regard to proper cleaning procedures, they leave the cleaning solution and the spill in the carpet, wipe with a towel, when the solution and spill shoiuld have been rinsed/extracted from the carpet fibers. Every pro does the rinse/extraction process or they would be out of business. My suggestion, replace your carpet, carpet pad. seal the floor where it is contaminated with whatever and start over with new carpet. Have your new carpet professionally cleaned yearly with the hot water extraction process. Carpeting is a big investment, take care of it in the future.
Q:how much carpeting?
Lowes sells carpet tiles in 40 sq ft cartons for $148 to $165 per carton. Or Wall to wall carpet from $1.68 to $1.98 per sq ft. plus installation and padding.
Q:What are some cheap alternatives to laying carpet? Explain carpet tiles?
You cannot lay carpet tiles over existing carpet.
Q:How many types of persian rugs exist?
There are different types of Persian rugs usually based on the region they are made in, for instance Kashan Rugs, Naein, Tabriz, Turkoman and etc. (each region has specially patterns). Also Persian rugs are categorized based on the materials they are made from, for instance silk and wool.
Q:New carpet...Do I need pad to??
Yes, I would definitely suggest a new pad too. You'd be amazed at how much stuff the padding (and carpet) can hold, such as dirt, carpet fresh, mold, mites, hair, etc. As long as you're replacing carpet, replace the padding too!
Q:The carpet stains to clean
Edible oil stains: use gasoline or carbon tetrachloride and other volatile solvents to clear, the remaining parts should be cleaned with alcohol.Sauce oil stains: first stains with cold water brush, and then washed with detergent can be removed. Chen stains can use warm water with detergent and ammonia scrubbing, then rinse with water.Grease: wipe with gasoline, turpentine or alcohol, and wash with soap.
Q:minimal amount of rugs needed?
None is the bare minimum, if it's a good doer and you didn't get it clipped (or maybe with just a trace clip) but most horses need one or two. A lightweight turnout and a med-heavy turnout will do most horses fine.
