Q:I just bought a new roll of Reptile Carpet. I've never used Reptile Carpet before, but I decided that you have to experiment with substrates to see what your reptiles like best. Anyway, I want to know how to clean the carpet. The roll I bought came in a kit with other things made by Zilla (reptile supply brand. and it didn't come with any instructions on cleaning the carpet. I know you can clean it, because I've read online comments on Zilla being a very good brand of carpet because of it's eco-friendly (made out of recycled bottles re-usable by washing). Could tell me how they clean their Zilla Reptile Carpet, or any other brand that is basically that same as Zilla's carpet? I would like to know how you clean it, what detergents/soaps (if any) to use, and how to dry (is it machine dryable, or air dryable?)
Yes, you can wash it I'm not sure what detergent you can use however. What I do is I see if there is any feces (i trained my dragons to poop on the newspaper), and if there is, I pick it off and throw it away. Next I scrub it really good with a wet sponge, scrub every side of it. Then I re-check it, go over it again, but if it is completely soiled with waste I have a spare carpet (most people like myself have two). A scrub brush may be needed to clean the poop and such. If you see any loops, make sure to cut them off, this can result badly. If you have the carpet with loops I'd suggest getting rid of it, but Zilla is a trusted brand if I'm correct. I hand wash it with soap and water. Just a suggestion, I think it's easier because I don't really trust the washer machine -_- as the other person said, let it air dry. My beardies rest on my shoulder on the couch and watch TV with me as their carpet dries :D
Q:I'm looking to buy black carpet for my bed room. I understand it's high maintenance etc. I would just like to know where to purchase it, online or in a store,.
I looked at yahoo several ways and the only black carpet was in 40 inch wide rolls for auto interiors. You will just have to look at local carpet stores and make lots of calls. There must not be a lot of demand except for patterned area rugs, There are a lot of them in black and taupe or black with a billiard ball motif.
Q:If landlord was to replace carpet with our security deposit does it, by some type of law or anything in Florida, have to be of equal or lesser value than the carpet originally in there? Or can he just get really fancy carpet and charge us up the ***?
The landlord can install whatever kind of carpet he wants. What he can charge the tenant is a different matter entirely. The tenant is responsible to return the unit to the same condition as when they moved in. This means the landlord cannot charge the tenant for redecorating, upgrading, and/or renovating the unit. Yes, the carpet should be about the same quality as was already in place if the landlord is attempting to charge the tenant for it. In addition, the landlord can only charge the prorated amount of life left in the carpet, which is typically estimated to last about 10 years. Meaning, if the carpet was already 5 years old when the tenant moved in, he could only be charged up to half the cost, even if he destroyed the carpet. If the carpet was over 10 years old, the tenant cannot be charged at all, as it was already considered as having to be replaced. This is a very, very loose rule, though; a judge may not necessarily agree or may consider the life of carpet to be closer to 20 years. Certainly, carpet can remain in good condition for that long if properly taken care of. Hopefully, you have move-in pictures dictating the condition of the carpet and what quality it was.
Q:I have a rug imported from Iran. It is made of wool on a silk backing. My cat was sick on it and some of the color ran—vermilion into cream color. It is getting a bit dingy and I would like to get it cleaned. Is there any way to get the pinkinsh stain out of the cream part. It is a beautiful rug.
There are professional rug cleaners almost anywhere. The best rug cleaners use a long conveyor belt like thing that takes the rug, vacuums it then shoots it with high pressure water and soap mixture while continually vacuuming it back out. The rug is then hung to air dry and is brushed and rolled up.
Q:I know it doesnt matter as long as I like it but I want your opinion :)Its kind of plain but Im just wondering…
It's okorder
Q:the new carpet that the campany layed just now smells very bad, does the glue used in the carpet contain formaldehyde?
Yeah, I suggest you look for a professional environmental company to detect it.
Q:We are going to re-carpet my grandmothers living room, but she is very sensitive to smells. Is there a certain kind of carpet with limited quot;new carpet smellquot;?
there are some carpets that don't off-gas as much smell, but here's a tip that interior designers do for commercial installations: As soon as the carpet is laid, close all the windows tight and turn the heat up really high 90 if you can, let the heat run for at least a few hours, overnight is best. This will burn up 90% of the new carpet smell, its also good for anytime you paint, vanish, or glue. Then turn the heat down and open a few windows and let some fresh air in. This is done in most large commercial buildings before people occupy it since industrial carpets, glue, and paint are a little more toxic. Sometimes they'll let it bake for 24 hours to get rid of any smells. Otherwise it may take a few weeks for the smell to go away
Q:We just moved into a condo about 3 weeks ago... and we have white carpet. I accidently dropped my ashtray onto the floor of my room, and its caused a HUGE black stain....in a very obvious place! I've tried alot of the carpet cleaners.... and its seeming to just make it worse....can someone help?!
Vacuum it again really good, and then get some oxie clean. Make it stronger then the package recommends and wet down the spot and let it work. If that doesn't do it, since the carpet is white, I would try a deluded mixture of bleach. But take my word for it, as soon as you have money, get rid of that white carpet!!!! Try a nice mix of browns, hides many sins.
Q:I want to put new carpet in a room, it is about 12 ft. by 14 ft., I just need the carpet, no install or delivery, about how much would it cost for standard carpet and would I need to replace the padding if there is already some under the old carpet? Thanks
800 sq ft of mid grade carpet installed with better pad $2400 to $3000 800 sq ft of mid grade laminate installed with trim complete $4800 to $5500. If you do the work and install the laminate yourself about $2400 to $3500 for materials.
Q:Im deciding whether to get a wooden floor in my room or a carpet. I already have a carpet and it is really old and smells bad. Lol. What should I get? And why?
Carpet - it;s easier to vacuum than to sweep and polish a wood floor
