Q:There was a leak in our house exactly under our cat litter box, and when the cat would use the box she would kick litter out onto the wet carpet. We tried so much to get it out but nothing works. Its dried into the carpet now and hardened. Anyone ever had this kind of stain?
Go to home depot and see if they have some sort of stain lifter that can get that out and then you might want to shampoo your carpet.
Q:I am desperately trying to find out how to remove melted candle wax from carpet. Help!
Ginny is right on. You can also use paper towels. First scrape off as much as you can with a butter knife. Also, when you use the iron, make sure you don't let it sit too long or bear down too hard or you will risk burning the carpet fibers. I had this happen in a huge spot on my carpet last year and there is no sign of it anymore. Good luck.
Q:What kind of rug should I buy that will stand up best to cat's claws besides sisal?
take a cardboard box, cut it into strips 3 inches wide.16 to 24 inches long depending on the size of your cat. find or make a box 6 to 8 inches wide, to fit the strips in. take the 3 inch stips you cut and turn them one edge [so you can see the corrugation] fit the strips into your box so tight that there is no movement. before you fit the strips in put a small amount of catnip in the bottom of the box. the cats will use this like a scratching post. do not put too much catnip in the bottom or the cats will just lay on the box. when the cats have destroyed the box build another...
Q:Are rugs supposed to more or less engulf a room and be under the legs of your furniture (in our case that would be the 8X10), or are they used more as accents rugs in front of couches and chairs, not actually touching the furniture but filling the empty space....hence the 5X8?Or are there no rules and anything goes in the world of rugs? Also, any suggestions for selecting a pattern are welcome. Our chairs are neutral, but the couch has a strong leaf with some floral pattern to it, and in addition to struggling with size and colors to match it, we're also having problems with pattern on pattern. I suppose the safest thing to do would be just to forget rugs, since we seem to be challenged in this area - but the floor desperately needs something and the room needs a punch of color to balance it. Thanks for your help!
All comes down to what furniture you have. From that you figure out the rugs.
Q:Was looking to buy a rug online from argos but didnt know whether it would be soft or not, prefer a soft rug here is the advert
It's not as soft as wool, but it's nothing as bad as walking on sisal. One thing I don't like about polypropylene is that it becomes matted easily, and it doesn't pop back up when it's vacuumed, like nylon pile rugs do.. Rather, the threads seem to stick together, and if you have to scrub out pet vomit or spilled mashed potatoes, it seems to matt even more. It's a nice-looking rug, and most likely a great price, but I'd keep looking.
Q:How to stick to the carpet tiles
With the glue paste, storefront is such a carpet. General use of edge glue and the middle part of the glue, it is best to find professional carpet laying professional workers shop, the price is not expensive, but the effect will be very good.
Q:What about the carpet with wrinkles?
Steam hanging ironing machine steam ironing principle is through hot water steam 98 degrees continuous contact with clothes, fibrous tissue softening clothes, through the "pull" and "pressure" action make clothes smooth smooth, hot water steam with cleaning and disinfection effect, for clothing stores, hotels, hotel, family etc., with support, hook. Just add water, electricity for 1 minutes, can be sprayed out of high pressure steam injection, alignment clothing wrinkle, make clothes smooth and soft, no ironing board, tedious steps we usually omit the ironing. The product is suitable for ironing and disinfecting the clothes, curtains and carpets of any material. The utility model has the advantages of simple operation, convenient operation, energy saving and time saving.
Q:Can anyone tell me if it is tacky to use a large carpet remnant as an area rug rather than buying a regular rug? I'm on a pretty tight budget, and I need a LARGE (10x10 ish) rug for our living room. Regular rugs that large are several hundred dollars. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
Not tacky! I was wondering about the edges though... Will they look worn out after some time? I guess it depends on the quality of the carpet. Have you considered buying a used rug? Check out second-hand shops, Salvation Army shops, garage sales ect - plus ads in the local newspaper. Or you could place an ad yourself?
Q:I have a large stubborn stain on my carpet, I have used many carpet cleaning solution but this just seems to make is dirtier when it is dry. Any suggestions on how I can do this without spending too much money
The stain is probably in the pad as well as the carpet. Try having a carpet cleaner work on it. That's probably the most effective thing you could do...
Q:I am painting my room a pale orange, and it has bright yellow accents. What color rug would look really good? I can't do white because it would look too dirty. Thanks!
Hi Claire, In choosing a Rug which lasts approx 10 years or more I would suggest that in this case you choose a neutral color. I realize many may think that Tan, Taupe or Light Gray. are a safe choice and so basic. But with that said Carpeting can expensive. Changing the Wall Paint is far more cost effective. In the future, you may decide to use another wall color paint in the room. Tan, Taupe or Light Grey would be my thoughts for you ! * All of the above mentioned colors come in a variety of many shades. I also suggest taking a Paint chip with you to the store for comparisons if you are concerned. Tan/Taupe will provide an earthy color to the room, while Gray colors are visually cool color. Happy Decorating !
