Q:I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
Q:Anyone know of a website that I could view carpet designs, get the pricing per square foot, and perhaps even an estimate on installation?
Look at Lowe's or Home Depot or google some local carpet stores. By the way, nylon carpet is cheapest, but wool lasts the longest and remains plushy longest. To tell how well the carpet will stand up, bend the sample and look at how close together the loops are. The closer, the better.
Q:I'm buying a bamboo rugs (or two) for my room.

Q:I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).
Q:We recently had a storm and I had water damage in my bedroom and the carpet was soaked. A company came out and extracted the water and steam cleaned the carpets but I can still smell that wet carpet smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of the stinch?
They ripped ypou off. they HAD to pull out all the carpet the pad under it was still soakedtell ur home owners insurance they did it wrong!!!!!!!!!!
Q:Are rugs supposed to more or less engulf a room and be under the legs of your furniture (in our case that would be the 8X10), or are they used more as accents rugs in front of couches and chairs, not actually touching the furniture but filling the empty space....hence the 5X8?Or are there no rules and anything goes in the world of rugs? Also, any suggestions for selecting a pattern are welcome. Our chairs are neutral, but the couch has a strong leaf with some floral pattern to it, and in addition to struggling with size and colors to match it, we're also having problems with pattern on pattern. I suppose the safest thing to do would be just to forget rugs, since we seem to be challenged in this area - but the floor desperately needs something and the room needs a punch of color to balance it. Thanks for your help!
The whole point of using area rugs (other than the warm fuzzy feel under your feet) is to define an area. If you're using a rug in a dining room, you want it to be large enough so that the table and all of the chairs fit comfortably on the rug, even when the chairs are pulled out. If you're using a rug to define a conversation area/furniture grouping in a living room, you want it to be large enough so that all of the furniture pieces in that grouping fit onto the area rug. There is a debate among designers/decorators regarding this issue. Some believe that only the front legs of each furniture piece needs to touch the rug, while others believe that the entire piece of furniture should fit on the rug. I say purchase one that the entire pieces of furniture can fit onto IF it fits into your budget.
Q:should I go with a cream-colored rug with a lighter color? That would give an espresso and cream look...
Yes, it would look nice, and would not get as dirty looking as a cream color rug. And with the solid furniture it will add interest as well. I would add some bright colors in your accessories, just about any color you like will look good. I personally love lighter blues with brown, sage green and brown is a hot combo right now, or warm tones like red or orange would spice it up. Add your choice in pillows, throws, table decor, whatever you love.
Q:i have just rented a house and started to clean the rugs now smell a strong urine oder, can anyone tell me how to get rid of this fast.i tried boarax, backingsoda, vinager , peroxide, and nothing seems to help. i will give 30 points to someone if they help me remove this smell.
get some spotshot to get it out of the rug.
Q:I would like to make a rag rug what type of fabric is the best to use?
A combination of old tee shirts and towels work nicely. They offer different textures and are readily available. Hope that helps!
Q:I used to have a cat, but haven't since I bought a house and completely remodeled it. Now the house is done, and I'd like to get a cat again. I don't like the idea of de-clawing - I think it's cruel. But, I now have expensive furniture in the house and also 2 very expensive antique persian rugs. How is a clawed cat trained not to scratch/claw these things. I've always had problems in the past with this.
I got 2 cats. And they both know how to use da scathing post.all u got 2 do is show it 2 them. After a while they'll know not 2 scracth the rugs but the scratching post.
