Q:what colour can solar panels be ?
I have only seen solar panels in a dark blue because of the material they are made of. Now the case can be any color I guess but aluminum (silver) seems to be common.
Q:Cost of Solar Panels for basement?
If you know where to look you get get solar panels for zero costs. For example, a lot of sign companies use solar panels. Contact your local sign company and tell them you will haul off all their broken solar panel for free. They are generally more than willing to let you do this.
Q:What is a solar panel?
Solar panel is a battery of solar cells. Solar cell is a device which uses the sun's rays to produce electricity by the photovoltaic effect. The photovoltaic effect involves the creation of a voltage (or a corresponding electric current) in a material upon exposure to electromagnetic radiation. It utilizes the generation of a voltage when radiant energy falls on the boundary between dissimilar substances (as two different semiconductors).
Q:What is a good type of solar panel to get for my house?
Solar water heating panels are often heavy, depending on their design. Solar electric panels are rarely heavy - at mabye 3 lbs. per square foot, including mounting racks, they are not much heavier than typical roofing materials. Whether the panels pay for themselves is a highly individualized answer, dependent on your state and local rebates (if any), how much sun your area gets, and the cost of your electricity. Just about any Californian can break even, but it can take 5-20 years. Prices are dropping, so this should get better next year (but federal tax credits expire - could be renewed, a Democratic president would be unlikely to veto). A house that is conservative in electrical usage (this usually means no air conditioners in the summer or electric heat in the winter) generally has enough roof area to supply 00% of its electrical needs. We have 0% of our roof dedicated to panels, and it supplies essentially 00% for us. The best way to get answers to your questions is to ask a few solar companies to do a free analysis and quote on your house. You can always say no. If you're thinking of doing it yourself, that's possible, but not trivial. It's also possible that a professional could install it for less than you could if you bought the parts yourself and installed it yourself. We installed our own, but the experience is a little dated - from 2006. There's a video at the bottom of the page below, if you want to see what we did.
Q:why wont my solar panel make my dc motor work?
You didn't say how much power your panels can produce, or how much power (current x volts) the motors require. The panels must meet or exceed what the motor requires. You might need to get a very small motor and a little gearbox out of some other motorized toy, or at least a small pinion gear for the motor and a larger ring gear that can be attached to an axle (similar to how RC cars accomplish their drive train). A worm gear drive set might be even better if the motor / solar panel combination isn't very powerful - it'll go slowly, but some movement is better than no movement. If you put the panels in series, a 2 V motor should be the best match (again, only if its power requirements are small enough). If you want to try running the 3 volt motor off the panels, you might try paralleling them (make sure you get the polarity right or they'll try to kill each other) - you'll still be mis-matched, but if the motor requires less power than the 9/2/8 volt motor(s), it might work. If you have or can acquire a multi-meter, you'll be able to measure the voltages and currents and that will not only help you see what's going on, but adding some details might help others help you get this working.
Q:how long does it take for a solar panel to make one watt?
DIY okorder.com
Q:What are the government/commercial incentives/discounts that come for solar panels?
Go okorder.com/ and click on your particular state. In the US today, panels are a money saver, if that, but not a money maker. Don't expect to get rich installing panels. A right-sized system will save the most money; more panels are not necessarily better. The arrangement you describe sounds like grid-tied, net metered solar. Try getting a free quote from a professional installer to see what size system would be appropriate, and how much it would cost.
Q:Buying Solar Panels...?
Are you aware of the complications that go along with installing a solar system? A solar panel might put out about 00 watts at 24 volts DC. What would you use it for. The typical solar system has a lot of panels connected in series. The output is connected to an inverter to make 20-240 volts AC. This is connected to the power grid if it is to be used. Also if it is felt that the system should provide power during an electrical outage, there will be batteries. How big would you wan it to be? Mine has forty panels with two inverters. It supplies all the electricity for the house, with some left over to supplement my gas heat. Read the Q and A in the Search box at the upper right of this page, by searching for solar panel. Also study all you can get your hands on.
Q:Numbers behind Solar Panels?
For comparison, 36 of these make a normal 2V x 50W panel. Note they are not tabbed. This means you have to find a way to connect them yourself. The tabs are probably spot welded on by the suppliers. A supplier below has kits of these with tabs, as needed to connect them together. These are not suitable for grid connect, because the higher voltage needed makes do it yourself panels a dangerous and litigious thing to have on your roof. Maybe you could buy a smaller pack from the link below to compare tabbed and untabbed and work out what to do. Your power calculation is a bit incorrect because the sun is only present some of the time. The 36 cell module would produce 50W when square on to the full sun. The sun may be out for around 2h a day in some places and times of the year. However it is the equivalent of 5h full sun, because of the changing angle throughout the day. Look this up on the internet for your region. Temperate zones may be a lot less. One pack in your link is 36x3 = 08 cells. Thus 50W per pack x 5h a day gives 750Wh per day and 274KWh/y. In reality it will always be less because of regions, weather, clouds, dust, inefficiencies, aging of cells.
Q:How many wind turbines and solar panels does the world need to replace coal, oil and nuclear power?
Green technology at this stage is not viable for the long run...we don't have the technology as of yet to replace all other modes of energy...Windmill Farms are EXTREMELY ugly and kills thousands of birds and only work when the wind is actually blowing...solar is not ready for prime time, too expensive for the average joe...we should be pursuing other engines that would use less gasoline and some exist but nobody is promoting those because they are convinced electric cars are the way to go but those are a farce because we don't generate enough electricity now for homes to use, can you imagine how little we would have if all cars starting using that same energy? IT is a farce that during an economic crisis the current powers that be are wasting money on green technology garbage that won't work. We should be figuring out how to drill our own oil and get off foreign sources and build more plants to produce more electricity, not figure out how to use the little electricity we currently produce in all our vehicles...Liberals...what a concept.
