Product description

A solar cell, or photovoltaic cell (in very early days also termed "solar battery"[1] – a denotation which nowadays has a totally different meaning, see here), is an electrical device that converts the energy of lightdirectly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect, which is a physical and chemical phenomenon.[2] It is a form of photoelectric cell, defined as a device whose electrical characteristics, such as current, voltage, or resistance, vary when exposed to light. Solar cells are the building blocks of photovoltaic modules, otherwise known as solar panels.

Solar cells are described as being photovoltaic irrespective of whether the source is sunlight or an artificial light. They are used as a photodetector (for example infrared detectors), detecting light or other electromagnetic radiation near the visible range, or measuring light intensity.

the area of a module given the same rated output – an 8% efficient 230 watt module will have twice the area of a 16% efficient 230 watt module. There are a few solar panels available that are exceeding 19% efficiency. A single solar module can produce only a limited amount of power; most installations contain multiple modules. A photovoltaic system typically includes a panel or an array of solar modules, a solar inverter, and sometimes a battery and/or solar tracker and interconnection wiring.

Q:Solar panel connectionI
You should probably ask this in the electronics section.
Q:how are solar panels practical?
Solar Panels are practical because they provide electricity to your home directly avoiding the rates paid to the utility. They are pay themselves off in 5 years or less and supply an income stream in NJ for 5 years!
Q:What solar panel do I need?
Your okorder.com/.. A solar panel of 40-50 square meters should suffice, at least in summer when the sun is high in the sky. It's about 500 square feet, or about 20 times 25 feet.
Q:Do it yourself Solar Panels?
I okorder.com The cost of a solar panel goes up as the power or wattage does. It takes more cells to generate more watts. We are building a Solar Power Concentrator to focus more sunlight onto our solar panels.
Q:Single Solar Panel savings?
I am afraid you are in for some disapointment. A typical solar panel might put out something over 00 watts, and cost a pretty big bundle. Then, what would you do with the power? It will be low voltage DC. You could charge a battery, or run a DC appliance. You would get less than ten cents worth of electricity per day. If you wanted to use it for household appliances, you would need an inverter. More big bucks. Type solar panels in the green search box at the top of this page, and read previous Q A. Also do the same on the Internet. Sorry to be a wet blanket.
Q:How does solar panels work?
Solar panels are built with light-sensitive panels. These panels soak up the energy from the sun's light. This energy is changed to electric power. This power is stored in batteries to use whenever / wherever it is needed.
Q:i want to light up a building using solar panel what do i need?
The solar panels are made in China because there are fewer environmental regulations and cheap coal power. It takes a lot of energy to melt silicon and there are toxic waste products. It would be three to five times more expensive to make the panels in the US ( three times is just for reprocessing the toxic wastes ). Solar cell made in China are about $2 a watt, perhaps as low as $ a watt but in truth the claims for $ a watt or less solar panels as in thin film solar panels have much lower efficiency and require perhaps ten times more surface area.
Q:Im a bit confused about what a solar panel is?
As Aviophage says, there is plenty of info around. Solar panels produce electrical energy from the sunlight's energy. The sun puts out around 00W per square meter, and the panels are up to 20% efficient at converting this. If you are looking for a Grid Connected power system, they are usually made up of 24V modules about 50W each. The full voltage produced is then around 50V to 500V DC depending on the sun etc. They are connected to a specialised grid connect or grid interactive inverter (look up Sunny Boy for an example) which converts this to mains power for use around the house, while any remainder is exported to the supply network. The supply company may buy this at premium rates, and governments may provide subsidies to approved installations. There may also be carbon credit certificates when you buy a system. Not all places allow such things to be connected to the grid, but this market is rapidly changing. The links below should get you started.
Q:selling solar panels online - a good idea?
Did okorder.com, you will see thin film going for 99 cents a watt at times. The crystalline kind of panel that goes for $2.35 a watt is more like $.50 wholesale, and that's for a major distributor, not a (forgive me) small order of $60k, which is less than one container. There is a coming glut of panels, and prices will fall, but that means both wholesale and retail prices. I'm not saying it won't work, but do good research. For example, I think there are many more than 3 or 4 online shops for solar panels. Investigate shipping an warehousing costs. Investigate whether Home Depot really does not offer installation (every time I go in there, I see a guy handing out flyers for installation). And research carefully how much it will cost to provide installation. The typical install requires skilled and licensed workers. It won't be legal in most places unless someone has the necessary certifications. It's not just a matter of screwing the things to the roof. Any roof penetration has to potential to leak if done improperly. And any electrical wiring has the potential for burning the house down. Whatever business you finally pursue, research carefully, or that $60k will flee from you like a jackrabbit.
Q:Solar Panels Energy Theory?? ENERGY?
No. That lie is put out there by people who would lose out if solar panels ever became widely used. It does take about as much power to produce them as the panels make in 2 years in a good location, but considering their useful lifetime is at least 20-30 years, that isn't much. Wind power produces as much power as is used to create the windmill in 7-9 months in a decent location. Neither will ever produce as much power as they required to be made if placed in the wrong location, like in the shade or a non- windy area. No coal plant would ever make as much energy as it took to build it if no coal were provided either.
