Q:What are the benefits of using solar panels?
There are several benefits of using solar panels. Firstly, solar panels generate renewable and clean energy by harnessing the power of the sun, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, solar panels can help to save money on electricity bills, as they generate free electricity once installed. They also require minimal maintenance and have a long lifespan, providing a reliable source of energy for years to come. Moreover, solar panels can increase the value of a property and contribute to energy independence, especially in remote or off-grid areas. Overall, the use of solar panels promotes sustainability, cost savings, and a cleaner environment.
Q:Are there any noise or sound-related issues with solar panels?
No, solar panels do not produce any noise or sound-related issues. They work silently and efficiently, converting sunlight into electricity without creating any disturbance or noise pollution.
Q:I am interested in solar energy, but am not sure how eficiant it would be in the northwest? Any comments would be apriciated.
The solar rating of your area is Good so I wouldnt see the reason not to use it. In my area solar rating is very good I get all evergy from it plus even selling it. My payback time was very quick but... If you are not in a hurry or cant afford to spend a lot, wait till end of the next year when the new flexible panels are coming to the market. They are suppose to be a lot cheaper, enviromental friendly more effective than the ones on the market now. Check out MY Estimator. I think for USA users its the best help on the net. You'll see your costs, tax incentives can get info about local PRO's aswell. Often people are shy to ask quotes but solar is overpriced at the moment so spend your time finding the best deals. Also check where panels are made, their efficency; warranty is usually 20 to 25years. Surf the net- OKorder, OKorder then check companies who sell solar panels. Some even offer price fix if you see other place selling with better price. Good luck!
Q:My plans are building several solar panels and have a battery bank. I want to be able to power the refriderator and freezer and occationaly an electric grill. How would This work exactly and what would the best way to hook this up to make it work? I want to be able to convert DC to AC. How many batterys would I need to make this work. I know when Civil unrest happens I want to be prepared. How would Wind Power work If I can get the equipment I need?
lets find out
Q:The battery is 9ah and the solar panel is 20w
despite the statements to the contrary, using a solar panel to charge a battery is not rocket science. first lets look at you panel. panels normally have a spec for open circuit voltage (probably 20 volts for yours) operating power (4.4 volts at .4 amps is usual for 20 watt panel) and short circuit current (probably 2 amps in your case). if this panel is connected to a 2 volt battery, it will develop 20 watts of charge current in full sun. if this panel is connected to a 6 volt battery, it will work closer to the short circuit current or about .8 amps. doing the math this is a 7.2v x ,8= 3 watt charger for 6 volt batteries. while it is less efficient than when working at 2 volts, it will still work pretty good and no regulator is needed if you remember to disconnect the panel after 5 hours of full sun. if you want to walk away and have it run automatically, then you will need to find a 6 volt charge controller.
Q:What is the cost of installing solar panels?
The cost of installing solar panels can vary depending on various factors such as the size of the installation, location, type of panels, and additional equipment needed. On average, a residential solar panel system can cost anywhere between $10,000 to $30,000 or more. However, it's important to note that there may be potential tax incentives, rebates, and financing options available, which can help offset the upfront costs and make solar panel installations more affordable.
Q:Okay, I think I understand what I'm doing, but I want to set up some solar panels on the roof of my garage, the building that gets the most sun, and I want to make sure all my math is correct in determining number of megawatts per year. However, my knowledge of electrical terms in quite n00bish, to say the least. Here is what I think I should be doing. The solar cells come at .75 Watts average power.I will install 4 panels of 64 cells each, with a total of 256 cells.
For comparison, 36 of these make a normal 2V x 50W panel. Note they are not tabbed. This means you have to find a way to connect them yourself. The tabs are probably spot welded on by the suppliers. A supplier below has kits of these with tabs, as needed to connect them together. These are not suitable for grid connect, because the higher voltage needed makes do it yourself panels a dangerous and litigious thing to have on your roof. Maybe you could buy a smaller pack from the link below to compare tabbed and untabbed and work out what to do. Your power calculation is a bit incorrect because the sun is only present some of the time. The 36 cell module would produce 50W when square on to the full sun. The sun may be out for around 2h a day in some places and times of the year. However it is the equivalent of 5h full sun, because of the changing angle throughout the day. Look this up on the internet for your region. Temperate zones may be a lot less. One pack in your link is 36x3 = 08 cells. Thus 50W per pack x 5h a day gives 750Wh per day and 274KWh/y. In reality it will always be less because of regions, weather, clouds, dust, inefficiencies, aging of cells.
Q:Could anybody give some review about Homemade Solar Panel.
If you want to make hot water then they are easy to make. Search the web.
Q:Is there a cheaper way on how to make your own solar panels ? Can someone share their real life experience ? Thank you.
I did my own solar panel at a fraction of a commercial one by diy manual. I think some of the important criteria to consider about these diy manual are : . is it proven by many of its readers ? 2. How easy to follow the manual ? 3. Any video showing the steps to assemble your own panel ? 4. Any after sales support ? You can cut down your electricity bill on some small appliances like your labtop or fans, but not practical on heavy duty appliances like air-cond, etc.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on a prison or correctional facility?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a prison or correctional facility.
