Q:hi, we need to put tiles for a room of size 10x16 fts . we will be using 2x2 ft vitrified tiles. I want to know how many tiles are required and how the cost of tile is defined in shop. (price is for 1 piece or 1 sq feet ?): You need 40 tiles plus scrap. Tile is priced per s/f So if your looking at a display tile it might say 8$ but the s/f price to compare to other tiles would be 2$ a s/f Same goes for 18x18 , 16x16 etc.. Q:i will be laying tiles o my bathroom floor and i am wondering if HomeDepot or Lowes do the tile cutting. i dont want to purchase the wet saw. i will need to cut tiles for corners and things like that. Thanks.: My Lowes in Chantilly, VA cuts tiles. Just had a couple cut yesterday. They do not want to cut tiles that they did not sell to you though since they cannot replace if the tile cracks or they cut it badly. However, if you assure them that you have spares and won't hold them responsible if the tile cracks or cut is bad they will do for you.

Q:I‘m looking to re-tile my kitchen... I would like to get good quality tile, at a good price. Can I trust tile purchased at any particular large hardware chain, or should I seek out a specialty flooring store? Or does it even matter that much - is tile just tile?: I'm not sure how you judge a good tile from the start but I do know that you need to get a good quality tile contractor for doing the installation. It's no use getting a good quality beautiful tile if it's put up and the installation looks horrible.

Q:I‘m going to install a porcelain tile floor. My question is when I install a tile up against a cabinet that people can see. Should I but the tile up against the cabinet or should I leave enough space to grout between the tile and the cabinet. Just wondering what the standard practice is , and what looks the best. Also I have a small crack in the concrete, which the tile company said it was so minor that not to worry about it. Although it caused a crack in my old tile that was originally installed. I would really like to prep the crack prior to installing the new tile. What would you recommend doing to prep the crack. Thanks: Install okorder / As far as looks of tile spacing, stay consistent. If you border uptight against one non-tile stuff, then do so against everything. Use either colored caulking or epoxy grout for corners. Cement based grout isn't flexible and will crack.

Q:Can you put linoleum over tile?: You really can't put a vinyl floor on top of a tile floor properly without doing some prep work which will ruin the tile. There are some products however that you can use that won't harm the tile like laminate, which doesn't require adhesives or floor prep. Or if you're dead set on vinyl, Tarkett has a new product out called FiberFloor which doesn't require adhesive but you may still see the grout lines from the tile come through from underneath. However, if you have permission from your landlord to renovate the floor (I made such an arrangement with my landlord in exchange for rent), then you can get a floor leveler like Ardex and put it over the tile to give yourself a new smooth surface and from there, you can do anything you want. Although I would highly recommend removing the tile.

If so it is 320 square ft of Terra cotta 18 tile. 5 or so tiles are broken on the corners.: You should talk to the distributor. They are the experts on their brand just check out the american florim website. Then you should be able to find one of their show rooms.

Q:We are planning small home improvements during the next year to prepare our house for sale. I would like to switch out our 4 year old formica countertop and replace it with granite tile. Q:I just installed a backsplash in my kitchen. It is glass mosaics with slate - 1x1. Today I began grouting and after it sat for 2 hours ( as instructed) I began wiping it down with a wet sponge. After scrubbing it for about an hour there is still a considerable amount of grout on the tiles - especially the slate. I used non sanded grout which is recommended for my tiles, but it will not come off! What can I do to remove the grout off of these tiles without scratching them? Please help. Thankyou: Use Vinegar and Water, about 50% mix . Try to wipe each tile without getting into the grout joints. You will most likely have to repeat this with a two cup vinegar to gallon of water bath (okay to get on the grout) bathe two more times to take any lasting film off your slate. That's what I did with my tile throughout my home over a year ago and it's still shines and looks fabulous.
