Q:I have some extra granite tiles, and want to get them trimmed to the dimensions I want. I lack a wet saw, and don‘t want to buy one, so is there somewhere I can go to get it done?
Granite tiles are very unforgiving, especially for do-it-yourselfers. You will want a very good saw and preferably someone who knows what they are doing to cut and install them. Not trying to be rude, but i'm a tile guy and even I don't like working with granite.
Q:If I have about 56 tile in bathroom that‘s 8x8 and the new tiles would be 13x13 how many would i need. And for the wall tile is 8x8 and have 28 the new would be 12x12 how many would i need
Using the 8x8 and figuring they are whole tile, there are 2.25 pcs of 8x8 in a s/f. 56 pcs divided by 2.25 is 24.88 s/f There are 1.17 s/f per 13x13 tile. 24.88 divided by 1.17 s/f is 21.36 pcs of 13x13 or a bare minimum or 22 pcs. The wall figures at 28 pcs divided by 2.25 is 12.44 pc or a minimum of 13 pcs of 12x12. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:Once my hand accidentally touched the sun sun tiles, even by electricity a bit, but not small. Why is that? Explain the reason.
Electrostatic generation is to produce electricity on the surface of the insulator. The main material of the tile is silica, various metals and compounds, which are themselves bad conductors, and have many pores at the time of sintering. They easily absorb moisture to form conductors. Will gather the charge to produce static electricity. So you said the static electricity should be friction or what the surface of the material.
Q:I have an on going problem in my kitchen. Same time tile floor was done in our home but kitchen is the problem. It was done 3-4 years ago by a contractor, however he never showed up his face to help us. He left some grout with us and said if ever the grout pops up then we can mix it in the water and fill with this mixture. The grout from the kitchen floor always comes out. Underneath, the kitchen is wood floor. The kitchen is on the second floor. Our family room is also on the second level but no problem to that floor Please help.

Q:Classification of tiles?
5, ceramic tiles: also known as mosaic, specifications, thin and small, hard texture, acid, alkali, wear, no water, strong pressure, not broken, colorful and versatile. 6, quintana brick: This is a glazed porcelain tiles, a very good anti-skid and wear resistance. Generally speaking, "anti-skid tiles" are mostly quintana bricks. As this kind of brick price is moderate, popular consumer favorite.
Q:We have a fireplace in our lower level that is outdated, dingy old masonry and doesn‘t fit with the rest of our updates down there. I would like to tile over it and have it ready for use before our family comes over for Thanksgiving. What is the best method?
You can attach tile directly to masonry, it has been done all over the world for centuries (Italy, Spain, Middle East all use tile on the exterior of buildings...) I would assume normal thin-set mortar would work, but I believe it would depend on the exact type of masonry- concrete block or clay brick. A thicker adhesive bed will likely be necessary to smooth over the rough surface, but because of the relatively porous surface of most types of masonry your bond should be excellent. My only word of caution would be if you have any cracks in the masonry. Make sure they are not active (widening and narrowing), which may occur with temperature and humidity swings. Either way, you may choose to weld the crack with epoxy to prevent any crack movements that may telegraph through your tile and crack it. Q:Does the tiles have radiation?
Tiles have radiation. Tile radiation does exist, the raw materials of ceramic tile products from stone powder, quartz powder, long sand powder, zircon powder and other minerals, these raw materials in the process of decay a special radiation, resulting in radiation. The tiles of human radiation, in addition to the ceramic tile itself, as well as tiles in the processing of additives generated by radiation, such as ultra-white brick polished tiles to add zirconia or dark glaze contains uranium, potassium and so on. So, the radiation in the tiles is unavoidable. In fact, the tiles are drawn from natural stone, and natural stone will produce radiation. As the tiles are only artificial synthesis of natural materials, radiation is much smaller than the natural materials, the radioactivity remained at a low level. For ceramic products such as tiles and other raw materials, radioactive material will continue to decay, these raw materials through the natural purification and artificial processing, the radioactivity can be ignored. As long as consumers buy quality qualified Class A tiles, even if the use of large area, do not have to worry about its radiation problems.
Q:I laid some ceramic tile about 6 years ago in a family room. There are some tile that sound hallow, Like they did not set in the adhesive securely. Nothing else is wrong with the tile, but it does sound hallow when you walk on it. I laid the tile on a concrete slab. How would you go about fixing this? I thought of drilling a small hole in the center of the tile and spraying some liquid insulation (that you put around windows) and grouting the hole closed with some grout the same color as the tile.
you need to remove the grout around each tile to be removed and with a chisel or punch gently break the tile to be removed and replace with a new one then re grout.
Q:I am getting ready to replace my kitchen flooring. It currently has sticky vinyl tiles, which I hate. I want a nice tile look for sure. However, it seems it is very hard work installing real tile, and more expensive. I have seen some laminate click together tile flooring that looks pretty good.Which one is best? Which one would last the longest? Any other insight? Thanks!
Ceramic tile, properly installed will out last any flooring..You have your choice of ceramic, porcelains and even real stone, if thats properly sealed. Dropping something of properly prepped and installed tile will NOT crack it. You may top chip it but you would also damage any other flooring thats installed. Laminates ,of good quality will last a long time but the water factor and being in a kitchen is high risk. Sheet vinyl , as long as you don t get a base grade and get a decent product,, is also a good flooring. The new vinyls have better top coats and clean and last longer with warranties that last a long time. Tile is labor intense but the savings out weigh having it installed. You can install it yourself for the price of having some one else install vinyl. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Which of the major markets in Hangzhou to sell tiles?
Wenzhou village that market seems to call the East China Ceramic market, in the ancient pier Road
