Q:why has my tile grout started to break up?
Even if you mixed it right there s a couple things. Dirt in the joints and it didn t adhere, Loose tiles ,( knock on them w/ your knuckles to hear if they sound hollow, to much water w/ washing grout down. This are a few. Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications PS You didn t say exactly wher, both I had a thought I forgot ..If its on the inside of the tile on the legs and header part , this is common and caused by the expansion and contraction of the fire chamber. It thats it thers a couple ways to go about fixing it. Caulking w/ a matching colored sanded grout or digging it out and putting in a special meatl thats normally called a Schulter Metal. It s L shaped and part of its slid behind the tile andglued in and some covers the tile edge. Comes in many colors and readily available at tile places. GL
Q:Simple way to lay ceramic tile?
I am not sure but i know you can learn on line or at a store.
Q:Are tiled showers worth the trouble?
With all the tile selections today, I would certainly opt for a tile shower, regardless of how long it would take to install. As far as cleaning, you will have to clean any shower surface just as frequently as the next. Just select a tile that does not show water spots. Use the right grout or seal it properly and you should be good to go.
Q:Installing laminate around a sliding glass door and tiles?
For the tile you can get metal edging to use as a transition from the tile to whatever else; the shape of the edging is determined by what it butts up against. Several different shapes are available in various colors. It is mortared in under the tiles to form a finished edge. You can get this stuff at Home Depot in the tile department.
Q:What is the basic role of tile glue?
The basic role is clearly posted more solid brick can not afford to brick Baidu experience - tile adhesive construction method
Q:Dose anyone know any decorative tile srtists?
Hi! okorder.com/ Hope this helps you. Best wishes!
Q:Where to start laying tile?
Without seeing the floor plan that is hard. Draw your floor plan out carefully and make a tile grid that matches your drawing scale. If the grid is on tracing or clear acetate sheet you can lay it over your drawing. You want to keep as many straight lines through doors as you can and keep the edges against walls balanced at the same time. You can cheat the layout a little bit by using wider or narower grout line if it is ceramic tile. The fewer places you have less than a half tile against a wall the better it will work. remember that you will have some furniture, so exposed edges after furnishing matter a bit more than edges you will never see behind a couch.
Q:Kent has a 2-ft by 2-ft square floor to cover with tiles. He has 38 tiles.?
24 in by 24 in 6 rows 4 in high 3 columns 8 in wide that's 18 pieces 4 by 8 4 triangles will make one such piece 2 of the squares will make one such pieces that's a total of 20 pieces 4 by 8 so there'll be 2 of those pieces left over
Q:Floor Tile information needed?
The first thing you need to do is ensure that the subfloor is proper for tile installation. If you have particle board you need some major work done before you can safely tile. A single layer of OSB or plywood should be at least 3/4 thick with 16 O.C. joists and then you'll want to use Ditra or a similar crack isolation membrane over that. If it is thicker than 3/4 you may not have to use the Ditra but you'll still need a cement board underlayment, though you might as well use Ditra anyway. Install your tile on top of the ditra/concrete board. I'd use a Schluter edge profile to cap the tile with a metal trim before butting your carpet back up against it. And yes, you need to put tack strip around the tile and preferably power stretch the carpet back onto it. Kneed kicking will just have it loosening up again in short order.
Q:Laminate wood floors or tile?
I have hard woods and tile (bathrooms are tile). I HATE cleaning them. I do love not having any laminate in my house though! If I were to get tile again, I'd install warm floor underneath (they are cold in the winter, cool in the summer) and get a larger tile pattern so there is less grout to get dirty and need cleaning. Laminate, while not of great value for a home, is awesome if you have pets or kids and don't plan on going anywhere for a while. I would also consider hard wood sustainable options, like cork or bamboo.
