FAQ

1.    For Polished Porcelain Tile, is the 30*60 available?

—— Yes, 30*60 is available. Due to the basic size is 60*60, we need to cut 60*60 tile into 30*60. 6 pcs are packed into one carton.

2.    What is the MOQ for this tile?

—— Normally the MOQ is 1382.4 m2 for one 20’ container. To support our clients, we could go with 3 models to fill one container at most.

3.    Can we use the carton with our own design and brand name?

—— Yes. Normally we go with Neutral Carton or our Carton with our CMAX brand name. But for carton of client’s own design, the MOQ for one size is 5 containers, due to the carton factory can’t arrange production if quantity is below 5000 pcs.

Q:Need help estimating tile for around tub ...?
Some tiles are designed to be used in a particular pattern, not just a straight run. For example, 4 tiles might interlock to make a square on the wall. I suggest you write down the measurements as you have, draw a small diagram of it all, and THEN go to a tile place. There is a tremendous amount of variation, not to mention the use of partial tiles at the edges, etc. It's rather complicated. On the plus side, you usually have to buy tiles by the box, so that means you would be rounding up your numbers, anyway. Better to have too many than to run out!
Q:How to make tiles?
sounds odd, I wouldn't use broken glass in an indoor tile, nor rice hulls on an outdoor tile. you may be able to laminate (make layers of) rice hulls in mortar on lower layers and then embed the glass on the top for traction for an outdoor tile. use a 1 foot square wooden box, lay down a very thin layer of mortar (thickness of a quarter?). then lay down layers of your rice hulls mixed with mortar, then carfully place the glass on top, making sure it is in the mortar enough to be secure. this is more like a terrazzo floor common in south florida and italy Good luck with your homework
Q:wood or tile flooring in my bedroom?
If your bedroom is in the basement then tile, if not then wood. One day the home will be sold and if it's tile you will take a big hit from the buyer. Wood floors can be refinished back to almost new, tile can't. Brazilian Cherry looks great.... You can get it in 3/4 finished/un finished or engineered which has a 1/8 inch of wood on top. Also comes in composite with printed on wood grain.
Q:What is the best tile for concrete basement floors?
Either will be fine for a residential setting. Installed properly both will last for years to come. Neither will break if installed properly if something is dropped on them. You can possible get top chips if a heavy object is dropped and both will show the inner body core unless you buy a true porcelain and not the average porcelain glazed tile. Unless you have major moisture problems tile can be used any time. Some moisture ( if any) will wick up and dissipate as normal. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:how to install tiles?
Prep your counter to meet tile standards, Each one can be different so with out knowing what yours is I cant say there. You ll need to figure what you want to do with the edge to trim it out. You can use a tile bull nose or a wood trim. Spread the needed glue, usually a thin set , over a small area. Then you can break tiles , ( very carefully) with a hammer or a pair of tile nippers. I use tile nippers to create the piece effect. These methods are called rubble effect. You ll need a honing stone to hone the tile edges so they are not sharp. Set into the wet glue, don t let it skim over or become dry. Grout as needed depending on what type of tile you use. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Laying ceramic tile?
You will need 132 tiles-get a few extra in case of breakage.I would go with 1/4 space or less. They sell 1/8th inch spacers-less grout to use and less sealer.
Q:Floor Tile information needed?
The first thing you need to do is ensure that the subfloor is proper for tile installation. If you have particle board you need some major work done before you can safely tile. A single layer of OSB or plywood should be at least 3/4 thick with 16 O.C. joists and then you'll want to use Ditra or a similar crack isolation membrane over that. If it is thicker than 3/4 you may not have to use the Ditra but you'll still need a cement board underlayment, though you might as well use Ditra anyway. Install your tile on top of the ditra/concrete board. I'd use a Schluter edge profile to cap the tile with a metal trim before butting your carpet back up against it. And yes, you need to put tack strip around the tile and preferably power stretch the carpet back onto it. Kneed kicking will just have it loosening up again in short order.
Q:What type of tiles does Space Invader use for his mosaics? Where can i buy some?
Space Invader Tiles
Q:Removing VCT tiles off of Hardwood floors?
Yep heat up the tiles like you thought. The machine you talk about will remove the tiles but in your case it ll chew up the floor to that your trying to save. You ll need to rent or buy the heat gun since the normal hair dryer won t heat hot enough to do the job. HINT HINT start at the out side and work in since glue will be tacky for awhile. Have a variety of hand scrapers to see what will work for you if your working alone. With a partner some one can stand and use a floor scraper while some one heats the tile. GL
Q:why does ceramic tiles pop up?
I would say either the wrong substrate was used. Substrate is the material directly under the tile. Chances are he installed the tile over another floor material that was not suitable for tile. Cement board is the most widely used substrate, but it needs to be screwed down properly so it does not move at all. If the substrate moves, then the tile will also work loose after stepping on it which forces it to move up/down. If he applied thin set over existing ceramic tile that was not cleaned, the thin set probably did not stick. Pull up a pc. of loose tile - is the thin set or other adhesive still stuck on the back of the tile? Sometimes the wrong adhesive won't stick to the back of the ceramic tiles. Humidity won't affect the tile if it was installed correctly.
