Q:The toilet overflowed the whole bathroom, and it left a huge puddle in the hallway. The carpet is completely soaked. It's clean water though, it's been doing this for days now, but we've been catching it before it reached the carpet. We have a shampooer that is currently sucking up the water, but I need more than that. Also, taking up the carpet from the ground is not an option. One more thing- any good ways to clean it once it gets dry?

put towels down on the wet spot and walk on them, that will soak up most of the water , FIX THE LEAK ,then shampoo the carpet

laying carpet is not an easy thing. You need tools that are made for laying carpet. The carpet iron, for one for seaming pieces together. You also need a knee kick or a carpet stretcher. The hardest part about laying carpet in a mobile home, is that most mobile homes actually lay carpet before they put the wall in. So your walls are actually on top of the carpet. So you will have to cut the carpet completely out. Then lay tack strips down to catch the new carpet you are putting in......I would call the professionals!

Q:I have carpet in the living room, it's not a big room, average size. I have a BISSELL steam cleaner, the one with the bristles, and I can empty the tank 5 times and keep going over the room and it still comes up dirty (the water) Is this normal? It's not possible to clean it until the water comes up clean is it? This carpet is probably old, we moved in a year ago so I am not sure how old it is.

I also have a steam cleaner--a Bissel Proheat 2X. (I love my steam cleaner.) It is not a good idea to steam your carpets repeatedly like that. If the carpet pad becomes saturated with water, mildew and the accompanying musty smell can result. (Guess how I know this.) Your carpet pad may be dirty. There may also be dirt under your carpet pad. I'm pulling up my carpets and replacing them; they've been in the home for about 20 years and the amount of dirt underneath the carpet pad is astounding. Your water will probably never come up clear. My view on carpets is they're someting you walk on, so they may be a little dirty!

Q:Okay so for the past few years I've been making latch hook rugs. They take up too much space and I was wondering if there is a way to sell these? I don't really have people to sell them to, and I was wondering how one would go about getting rid of these projects while not throwing away all your cash. I am afraid to sell them on OKorder because someone might accidentally be deceived and think that it was an unfinished latch hook kit, and be surprised to find a completely finished rug at their doorstep. Any suggestions?

You could sell them on Craigslist. You can sell ANYTHING on Craigslist! Craigslist lets you post pictures, if you wish ... so potential buyers would know what they were getting.

Q:Some wax fell on the carpet(quite dense) and i tried the old trick ironing down a piece of paper on top of it to lift the wax off. It has worked for me before. But now, part of the paper has stuck to the carpet. I tried ripping it off real quick but now there's just a huge patch of paper stuck right into the carpet. How can i get it off/out ? Help ?

Maybe you can use a damp cloth- one you won't mind getting rid of- to continue ironing the paper out. Good luck!

I am going to buy one exactly the same - for the same purpose! my friend has one and it goes under everything - stable rugs, quilt rugs, outdoor winter rugs, canvases, deniers, even summer rugs just for the extra warmth - everything! She has had no rubbing problems and swears by them! I am going to get one exactly the same and i am sure you will have no problems with it! All the people i know who use them have no rubbing problems or anything as i asked them the same question - so from what ive heard - go ahead and buy it!!! kizza

For oil stains that are not easily removed from carpets, wipe them with carbon tetrachloride solution. Use cotton yarn dipped in high quality gasoline, wipe carpet greasy spots, the best effect.

Q:i just moved into a new apartment. i really like, and i spent like 2 days.....but walking barefoot on the carpet turns my feet black.....i live in small apratment, there is only one large area that is carpeted...are there any products that are good to use? would a carpet cleaner come out for just one large room?

Q:Well we kind of had a little mis hap and we accidently got a burning piece of paper on the ground. The paper was burning and went onto the carpet and we cleaned all the ash up and now there is a dirty ashy looking stain on the carpet. How do you get rid of it? I don't mean by buying another carpet, is there anything that could get it out of the carpet? Thank you.

Snip away the dead carpet using fine manicure scissors and tweezers. You want to remove only the dead (bunt) carpet and nothing more. Surly not inch by inch more like millimeter by millimeter! After removing all the dead carpet. Find an unnoticeable area in the carpet such as the back of a closet and remove bits of good carpet using the same method. Try taking samples from multiple areas. Roll the new samples up to fit the hole, apply carpet glue to the base of the hole. Careful not to get any glue on undamaged fibers. Place the samples onto the glue cover with a piece of paper and a heavy book. Allow to dry for several hours. Remove the book and paper and blend the carpet with a wide tined comb. Also if there are singed but not burnt area try using a solution of 2 parts hydrogen peroxide 10 parts water. Dabbed the solution on the fibers spray with water and dab dry with a paper towel. Wait until the area is thoroughly dry before proceeding with gluing in new carpet samples.
