Q:What kind of plastic are PEZ dispensers made out of?
I would recommend you contact PEZ to be certain. However, if I had to guess, I would say they are primarily plastic #5, PP, and more likely than not, there are several types of plastic in the dispenser. Additionally, because of the metal springs inside, the PEZ dispenser would be discarded from a recycling program because of the difficulties associated with separating the different materials. Generally speaking, outside of electronics and aseptic cartons (the paper cartons some milks and orange juice come in), there isn't a big market for mixed-material recyclables. The small amount of plastic and metal that could be possibly be recovered from the dispenser are not worth the time it would take to disassemble the piece. It is possible the company offers some sort of recycling or take-back program, though I couldn't find anything about it on their website. Hope this helps.

Q:Wire or plastic cage?
Wire cages are much much better! In plastic cages, if its hot your hamster can literally cook in them. The wire cages let the air through and its not so stuffy. Also, there is a illness that most hamsters get when in a plastic cage. If you get a wire cage, make sure the space between isn't more than a half an inch or your hamster might be able to get through. Also, go online and look at reviews of that cage... you might just find that that cage would have been a horrible choice.

I've never heard of anything like that. The only mini kegs I know are steel. I don't even think there are any beers that are sold in plastic containers.
Q:BPA reactions to make plastics?
What drwho said, but also BPA reacts with epichlorhydrin to form the diepoxy ether. This liquid can be reacted with a variety of other monomers to form polymers (plastics). Commonly it is reacted with amines, amides, mercaptans and anhydrides. It can also react with itself. Typically the epoxy ring opens and the oxirane oxygen takes a hydrogen from the donor (amine, etc.) and a C-N, C-S, etc. bond is formed. As long as both the epoxy monomer and the donor molecule are difunctional (at least) a high mw plastic will generally be formed. Usually for many applications the functionality of either or both components is higher than 2 so that a highly cross-linked material is formed. Epoxy ring-opening has the advantage of having less mechanical stresses due to the formation of covalent linkages - the ring opening reduces shrinkage compared to other polymerization mechanisms.
Q:form for plastic needed?
formed plastic is made from high heat and high pressure...the plastic is usually melted in a controlled way so it does not burn. Industry starts with uniform pellets which are then melted into a very thick medium. HIgh pressure air is usually used and is also warmed too to add to the molding effect. Molds are made out of Aluminum or steel alloys. They usually make a mold from solid aluminum, precisely grinding out the image into the aluminum, then one or more blow holes are added in both halves of the mold. THe mold is made into 2 pieces, halves, which will come apart easily too. THe temperatures that they deal with are between 500 and 1000 Fahrenheit, depending on the type of plastic....greater than that would cause burning. So if you have 5000 to 50000 laying around to invest into a blow molding machine then youcan do this. BUT...I would strongly suggest you forget about plastic and go with Fiberglas instead. Any marine or autobody shop or auto supply will have the materials. You'll also need an Organic filter mask, very good safety glasses, and thick plastic gloves or neoprene gloves. Make your mold out of wood and if for fiberglas then make the wood mold so that the fiberglas liquid does not escape., then pour the fiberglas mixture OR spread bondo over the wood around the mold. use the fiberglas strengthening tape or lath to reinforce the fiberglas or bondo. Then after 24 hours...remove the mold and carefully sand around it to smooth out the edges. Fiberglas or Bondo is much easier than plastic.
Q:How to drease the density of plastic ?
Put the magnet at the centre of the plastic float and try to increase the surface area once you have gotten the best low density plastic material. Try to make it a bit curved. The common error when making floats with plastic is that they make boats that are flat, so try to curve it a bit like a boats bottom.

like chewing it, or just licking it? well, i've never chewed it but when i drink water form a water bottle, i run my tongue around the rim. It tastes smooth, and plasticy. :D
Q:Plastic in racecars.?
I'm defianelty not a professional but I hear UHMW is waterproof so you might try using that around the windshield wiper tubs. I think Torlon or Plavis can take some heat but maybe try it on a model racecar before going full out. Like I said I'm no expert.
Q:Can you get cancer from plastic water bottles?
It is true that there are chemicals in plastic that (in high amounts) have been shown to induce cancer in laboratory tests, but most of what you see about this is just overreaction. You aren't melting them in the microwave and drinking the plastic right? Didn't think so. We are exposed to hundreds of chemicals every day, they are in everything, and they are always finding new ones they say cause one thing or another. It's unlikely drinking from a water bottle will ever hurt anyone.
