- Q:I'm having a hard time finding a sofa that is both attractive and comfortable. I like sofas that recline and I'm fairly tall, so most of the sofas I've looked at aren't all that attractive. Did you face the same trade-off between comfort and beauty? How did you solve the problem?

- I had a problem with cat urine on my couch. After getting a pro to clean it and using my own concoctions, none of which worked, I ended up putting a plastic mattress cover over it and bought a nice Roots quilt to throw over it. No more smell. The smell was driving me mad. It was either try that or replace it.

- If it's fabric you could try an iron-on patch. A largre one like for a knee could be cut down to size and you might be able to find a color that will blend with sofa color. Of course, if the rip is on a spot that gets lots of tension you might want to try the large size.
- Q:There are so many types of sofa. I'd like to get some suggestions....
- My own two rules...More expensive is not necessarily more in quality, and just because it looks nice in the showroom doesn't mean it's durable OR comfortable! Check out the liquidation centers and outlet shops. Shop around alot..it took me two months to find exactly what I wanted. It's a major investment, gotta last and we have to love it!! When you find one you like, try it out. Don't just perch on it...sit back, are your legs comfortable? Is it too high, too low? Do you have to practically recline to lean back on the cushions? Is it easy to sit down and to get back up (don't laugh...some of them seem to swallow you up). Is it comfortable enough for you or your guests to sit on thru an entire football game, movie or race? Then there's practicality. If in an apartment, are you going to be able to get it in the door, up stairs, etc? Believe it or not, I once hade to have a wrought iron patio surround removed so we could take a camel back sofabed in thru the patio door...it wouldn't fit thru the front door! If extra overnight space is a factor, check out the bed portion. Is it comfortable enough someone can endure an overnight stay? Some of them are really horrible. As for color and durability, I'm all for seeking out something in a color I truly love, yet as neutral as possible or at least a solid or tweed so that decor and accessories can be changed out with minimal expense. Some of the fabrics now are poorly woven and snag easily. Also watch to make sure seams and upholstering is tightly constructed. Has the fabric been treated? What kind of warranty comes with it? As for the styles, no particular one is any more durable than the other. It's all a matter of taste there. Some designs will work well in most any room theme. The choice is up to you. Good luck!
- Q:After weeks of looking I found the PERFECT sofa today. But I'm afraid it matches my carpet too closely. No other colors are available and I really love this sofa.The sofa is khaki and carpet is beige. Walls are white and can't be painted and my furniture is dark wood.Any ideas on how to make this work and what colors might work for throw pillows and curtains? - put a throw blanket on the sofa ... any pop of color will do maybe an interesting print (if there are no prints on the sofa or floor. Design usually works in a three base color ... since you have beige (nuetral) anything goes that you like. With the dark wood I'd go with a dark color perhaps a deep brown or maybe a black and then an accent of green for subtle or maybe a warm sort of red/brick color. If you have table or shelves ... use the color in objects there too ... a vase or bowl, book ends ... or a picture .... this pulls the color around the room.
- Q:so i have a white leather sofa...and it gets dirty often..and it like loses its color because we have to wash it so often..is it possible to repaint it or what can i do to make it look in better condition then it is now?
- A white leather sofa ha already been created by adding a 'paint' or pigment to the surface. It is definitely possible to recolour this and the pigments used these days are highly sophisticated. The leather itself needs to be in good condition to do this process. White leather needs cleaning on a regualr basis but also needs protecting to help inhibit dirt from destroying the finish on the leather, once this has been removed your leather will get dirtier quicker and be harder to keep clean so I suspect that this is what has been happening. As far as the recolouring goes I would not tackle the job as a DIY one as the process needs to be done extremely carefully with professional products in order for it to succeed. Most DIY products are not professional products and would not last. Hope this helps

- Don't make him to get declaw,people don't have any idea of how this procedure is done.Is really painful and after the cat is declaw some time they get into depression or aggression.Declaw is like if somebody cut your finger in the middle.I work in an animal hospital an assist surgeries.
- Q:I'm sofa shopping and found one I like. It is 101 W x 44D x 42 H. My door is 33 W and 78 tall. I don't think the feet of the couch are removable. I'm worried it won't fit. Any help?
- The main thing here is the width, if your door is 33 wide then if you can turn the couch to be less than 33 even like 32 then you can wedge it through. If you can't then, this couch will not be able to go though the door. Good Luck!
