- i say couch, sometimes i say sofa. but rarely

- steam cleaner is the best for suede but hold the cleaner about 2 inchs away from the fabric and brush with soft brush. I work in furniture store we do this all the time..

- Q:Something with simple lines and not an ugly over-stuffed sofa. Plain and simple with an open-leg design. Quality a must and 100% leather (no vinyl).
- I do not like light wood other than it does not show up dust and hair as bad as the darker. I like the grain in wood. Personal opinion. Here is the dilema you face. Right now you have black sofas. Your flooring will outlast those. Who knows what colour of furnishings you will choose next time. I would pick the floor colouring you like..I would choose a medium to medium dark colour. Not too light or dark to cause any decorating problems later on, and is very rich looking. All colours of wood look great with leather...even black leather. Try not to pick anything with a red tone to it..it can limit your colour choices down the line.
- Q:Is there such a thing? about 8 years ago I bought a couch that was supposedly 'top of the line' one your grand kids will have in their first home, etc. Well, the cushions have slumped and the leather has worn holes in it. - I think it is almost impossible to get a couch that will last a lifetime. That just doesnt sound obtainable to me. Unless you are Bill Gates and can afford a billion dollar couch made of gold but it wouldnt be comfortable to sit in.

- You will NEVER match the leather, so don't even consider that remedy. However, HM is a very good quality sofa, so I would highly consider having the seat back cushions reupholstered in a rich tapestry fabric. The look is very fashionable the cost will be RELATIVELY minimal. Call the best upholsterer you can afford cause this will be a worthwhile investment.

- You can buy slip covers, or get it reupholstered (not inexpensive). But if the cushions and support are worn then there is not much help for that. Making it look pretty is still going to be an uncomfortable sitting experience sinking into the holes and broken supports. To repair that would cost you as much ot buy a new lower end couch and chair. Search the ads in the Sunday paper or search Craigslist in the better suburbs of your area. Often you can find good clean stuff for cheap with enough patience.
- Q:which can be used every day instead of a regular bed? I heard that 4 inch matresses are uncomfortable, and also, many of these convertables fall apart quickly if used daily.
- there's a microfiber sofa at pier one stores this season that the salespeople swear is the most comfortable sofa bed ever. i haven't bought it, but have visited a few stores and they all say it. it retails for $699 also consider a mattress topper ( maybe 4 inch memory foam). it's usually thin enough to fold right in with the bed when you need to convert back to sofa.

- Buy whatever coffee table looks good to you. Think about how you will feel when you are sitting on the sofa with the coffee table in front of you. Does it have enough surface area and storage space? I always go by what makes me feel good. Look at the other colors of wood in the room. If the coffee table won't match the other wood exactly, then it is better to get one with an obvious contrast. If you have a significant other, you may want to ask their opinion also.
