- Q:I guess I got some on me after painting the basement floor on decided to sit down. I tried to use some pledge but it didn't work.

- I totally agree with the people who said not to paint your chairs . Only a few fabrics would readily accept paint and then there would be the problem of covering the existing patten so that it didn't show through. Not to mention, the fabric would be stiff and really uncomfortable. I have used the sheet and safety pin method of covering chairs before and it works great, plus, you can take them off to launder them! I know that sheets can be pricey, but thrift stores usually have them for a nominal price.

- Are you writing about a sofa that you sit on? I have not heard about this. But if it is made of a polyester material, it could cause pollution and make the air you breathe toxic. I know a person who is allergic to polyester material. I think you need to add some more details and material to your question............
- Q:I live at home with my parents and we are getting new sofas for the first time in a long while. The old ones have a detailed floral pattern which I find very ugly and outdated, but my parents don't mind it. They are thinking about a similar pattern for the new sofas!I need your advice to suggest something more suitable.The room is a lounge with cream colored carpet and curtains, with off-white walls. - OH JEFF GREAT NEWS....they no longer make those ugly floral prints on couches...lol i would encourage more earth tones like a nice tan...it works with anything if those curtains have been hanging for more than 10 years they need to go to the piano would look great on a nice area carpet...you could go an accent color and carry it though the room...like black or burgundy...throw carpet...and pillows on couch and accent pieces candels on coffee table... i would go to bed bath and beyond...in the beyond section they have new couch covers...for the floral couch...so it can become modern and be solid...i hope your parents plan to get rid of it... if the room hasn't been painted in 10 year you should offer to freshen it up....light tan walls...white ceiling and white baseboards...dark tan couch...area carpet..in front of couch with coffee table in center...would look great... an area carpet...makes the space look more homey...you do not need 2...either one under the edge of the couch with the coffee table in the center or one under the piano also do they play the paino...if not it need to be sold to create more space you need modern...candels...to accent to... happy decorating *(*

- Q:I just bought a brown sofa. It is the color of chocolate and beige, but mostly dark brown. I thought of red curtains but I don't know if that would look good. I also have a beige carpet and chair, so I need some colors other than neutral or brown.
- Brown goes with everything. It's kind of a neutral color. We had a brown sofa and carpet and chairs, and I used eggshell curtains, but I changed the valences to different colors. I also used a lot of colorful throw pillows in the room. Candles add color too. You can really use just about anything. Sometimes a plaid that picks up the brown is good. I just like white or off white curtains at my windows, for uniformity outside. Have fun decorating.
