- Q:i have one sofa and 2 love seats,they have been in the family for a long time ,and with money problems and debt , i thought i can do it yourself fix . the sofa is missing a leg in which i can get a new one from any store ,but wanted to know is there an easy way to fix like example the hands of the sofa have lost the cushion under it and some of the sofa seat things have rips in the fabric ,i tried sewing them but they still re-rip ,for i have toddlers at home ,has anyone done anything of the kind and is it more expensive then sending it somewhere or just buying a new one , the wood seems fine and in good shape ,it is just the cushion part and outer cover ,i thought of getting the slip covers but with the kids it wont stay in place at all so i want to fix the cushion and replace the cover
- Your not going to like my answer but you are using the wrong thread to repair the sofa the thread you need is almost the size of fishing line as for slip covers if you place some foam rubber under the cover it will stay in place . Good luck with your project.

- Sleeper sofas mean just that. They pull out into a bed. Otherwise they wouldn't be called sleepers.

- Ours didn't come out for 3 days. Now he is the most loving cat. Just give him some time to adjust! Just leave some food and water where he can find it and he will adjust in time.

- I would go with leather- it is much better than fabric but maybe a lighter color tan instead of chocolate brown.

- I've had my leather sofas for about 5 years and they still look great. I think I've conditioned them once, but should probably do it more often. I can't really think of any cons to buying this.

- No. Anything you use on it will either ruin the sofa or color any ones clothing that sits on it. Bad idea.

- Q:I'm moving cross country and have a very limited decorating budget. I wanted to buy an Ikea sofa but I know how uncomfortable they are. I have an idea to create a sectional sofa/daybed by using two twin bed sets minus the frames and placing them in an L-shape with lots of pillows on top. I have my eye on two Wolf Slumber Express mattresses from Walmart that reviewers say are extremely firm. I'm thinking of just placing two twin mattresses on top of each other, thereby getting some sinking action like on a real sofa instead of putting them on a wooden foundation by themselves. Does anyone have any idea what happens when you put two mattresses on top of each other - do they slip off of each other or do they pretty much stay in position?
- Your better off using the foundation underneath, which is specifically designed to supply the mattress with support. Keep in mind that mattresses and sofa's are designed for their intended purpose, so substituting one for the other isn't likely to be effective long-term. Mattresses are designed to absorb the weight of the individual spread over the entire surface area of the mattress, placing your entire weight on a few springs will result in them breaking down quickly. Using a second mattress will only expedite the wear and tear even more.

- That depends on the size, quality, upholstery, etc... A good quality American made carved wood sofa can run as high as $15,000. A mid-priced one could run between $2500-$4000 The cheapest molded resin sofa China would probably start in the $800 range. I'm a proponent of real wood, domestic construction, and 8-way hand-tied frames. They will cost more, but you will never replace them.
