- If you find a small scale sectional (look at Bassett's CU2 style), this can really maximize the space that you have without overwhelming it. I suggest choosing a color of fabric that will be close to your wall color so that it will lessen the heavy look. Bassett also has a Room Design feature that you can use that is very helpful. As for putting them together, the delivery men are very experienced at this. Otherwise it can be a BIT of a struggle when snugging into a small space, but not impossible. (No tools required) The biggest issue for a sectional is getting the corner piece through the door. Most will fit through a 36 door with no obstructions or tight turns. If you move a lot, you may want to consider a sofa 2 chairs though, as these pieces will fit almost any room anywhere you go, a sectional may limit you in the future.

- I think what you're looking for is a FUTON. With a futon sofa, the back of the sofa that you lean against while sitting folds down flat to make a bed. A day bed, as someone suggested, is simply a twin bed that pushes up against the wall on the long side, with the headboard running the length of the bed (whereas, on a normal twin bed, the headboard is narrow, and sits at the head of the bed).

- Firstly, to resolve that. Each time they go to scratch the sofa, hit them with a cushion it wont hurt them but it'll scare them, if they're a housecat get them a scratching post instead and everytime they go to scratch the sofa put them near the scratching post instead. If you have outdoor cats they should just automatically scratch their claws on wooden fences instead.

- There are leather dyes out there. I don't know if they'll work on your sofa, but you can try one in an inconspicuous spot on the sofa, see if it works. Let it dry thoroughly, then *also* check it to see it rubs off. You can find leather dyes at really good art stores, like Pearl Paint. You can also call in a pro and have them do this, if you've got the cash. In the future, use leather cleaner for your sofa. Leather cleaner is more of an oil/moisturizer. It won't dry out the leather, and it won't remove the color.
