Q:Can wool carpet be washed?
No, if it is pure wool, it would be best for dry cleaning, but if you don't care, you can buy wool fabric detergent
Q:We used a black light on our carpet last night and found black spots. When we turned on the lights we didn't see the spots. What stains turn black under black light?
Protein stains, such as urine, blood, semen, will glow with a whitish tint. I've checked a thousand carpets with a black light,in total darkness, mainly to assess the extent of urine contamination so a decision can be made to either treat the stains or tear the carpet and pad out. I have never come across black stains as you describe them. In any case, even after extensive hot water extraction cleaning, the glow will remain. In your case, whatever caused the spots you see is probably long gone from the carpet, just the residual effect remains, which is permanent.
Q:Our dog peed on the bathroom rug while I was taking my brother somewhere and I have no idea what to do. Apparently it's made out of 100% polyester, and I can't put it in the washing machine because I have absolutely no clue how to use it.
Just hand wash it and air-dry it outside.
Q:1600*800 what size carpet is appropriate below the tea table?
Carpet size should be determined by the size of the sofa, irrelevant to the tea table. In principle, it's as big as the virtual box occupied by the sofa, but move away from the TV, not all under the sofa. Just bigger than the coffee table is not, but the problem is easy to sit on the sofa when you sit on the edge, easy to edge.
Q:So, I've seen on the internet about these rugs that is practically all you need all year round. It consists of 3 layers: a protective sheet, an outer shell and a reversible quilted blanket. I have only seen a few of these on the internet and none in the UK. Do you think these would be worth investing in? And would I be able to find them in the UK?Thanks in advance (: xo
I've seen them advertised in the UK but off hand can't remember where - Rideway? Derby House? IIRC they are expensive. You could probably use three equivalent rugs and pay less for them but they wouldn't match prettily. Depends whether you want economy or looks. On the basis that two or three thin layers are warmer than one thick one they should be a good idea. However, I don't have direct experience of this 3 in 1 rug. I've been at it for long enough to prefer economy as long as the performance is satisfactory. Along with others at the yard I use a Morrison's First Home duvet as an under layer indoors when it's very cold.
Q:Dining table is in a cellar rec room and table requires 8' x 14' rug ., do they make rugs this size?. Where would be the best place to look?.
Try okorder . I've bought many items on both sites and had great luck. Overstocks has low shipping charges, sometimes free on large items.
Q:shes always in the room that the rug is in and it makes her sneeze can it cause porblems for her ??? please help what should i do???
Clean the rug, ask your local Pet Marts for the best cleaner, it also helps with allergies, I have seen them in the store, sorry, don't remember the brand name right off. Then ask your vet for allergy pills for her....your parents should not have to remove their carpet, there are other solutions, and you could keep her in another room, but that would be said to shut her up alone.. but, when you all are gone, put her in your bedroom, so she won't be on the rug...this will help. good luck
Q:I have a antiuqe rug. My dog pissed on it and it made it bumpy. The tag on it is in chinese, It is made of silk. I need some help on cleaning it. Dry clean? or what. I can not put it in the washer because it is a high effenincy washer and it will ruin it when it gets wet.
Shag Rugs are Handwoven Rugs made from differents kinds of yarns. Dense and plush, all shag rugs are prepared using wool or polyester depending on the designs. Shag area rugs make a fun addition to any fashionable space by incorporating texture to the room.
Q:The carpet will go in a finished basement. The basement has bare concrete right now.
If your basement is at most, a little damp, then I'd hesitate before putting in carpeting. You don't want mold to form under the carpet. Try to dry the basement out first. Maybe all you need is a good dehumidifier that you will continue to run. If you're not sure about the floor, do a simple test. Tape a 3x3 foot plastic sheet onto the floor. Seal all edges. Come back in a few days. If there is moisture between the floor and plastic, don't finish the basement floor with carpet. Once the basement is dry, just put an 8-pound pad under the carpet. You don't need roofing felt under it. If you are gluing carpet or carpet squares directly to the floor, be sure to seal any and all cracks in the cement first. Also, use a water-soluble glue in the event that you have to rip up the carpet due to a flooded basement. Don't cover the drains with carpet or, at least, mark them off so you can find them later. There is a spray mold-retardant that can be applied to the carpet after it is laid down. We had that done in our basement. I'm not sure if that can be done prior to laying the carpet, i.e., to spray the floor and/or the padding first.
Q:Hi,I am a tenant and had a leakage from a dishwasher. now carpet is wet and smelly.around 1 square meter is the carpet area affected. I told the landlord about it. My question is should I remove the carpet myself in the meantime just to prevent mould from building up?As long as I took pictures I am safe doing it if landlord does not send someone to fix within say 48 hours?Regardless, is it not the best thing to do anyway - remove the wet section and put in garbage until they come to install new carpet? is trying to dry and clean it instead an option?THANKS
No, don't go tearing out carpet. What I would do is use a wet/dry vac or carpet shampooer and suck up all the moisture first, then go back over it with a hot, soapy, solution with just a small amount of bleach. The bleach shouldn't hurt the color of the carpet if you use trace amounts, but it will kill any mold or fungus that might start forming. The carpet shouldn't have to be torn up, if properly cleaned like the above poster stated.
