Q:Are Carpets a health hazard? ( kids)?
As long as your son does not have any existing respiratory problems or conditions then it's fine. Every house ive lived in (14 as my dad is in the military) since I was a baby has had carpet and I have no breathing problems so yeah you should be fine. And all carpets have bacteria in them just vacuum regularly. Hundreds of kids are raised in homes with carpets, many more than hard wood floors so i'm sorry but this sounds over protective and a little OCD. I'm sorry but anyways youve had your carpets cleaned already so your son's health should not be at any risk. Good Luck x
Q:How to judge the quality of carpet
A hand to touch the carpet pile, the quality of its products is high, the carpet surface density is plump, elastic carpet such good resistance, abrasion resistance, trample, comfortable and durable. Don't take here to remind consumers to select method to select the plush carpet, seemingly fluffy 20molecules good-looking, but not easy to pile pile density, lodging deformation, this carpet is not anti stampede, performance carpet unique and easy to lose, not durable.
Q:How do you clean a big rug?
I have a big living room rug. It is acrylic but a very nice fake persian rug that wasn't cheap. You can only use the following for an acrylic rug, but if it is dirty and stinky, it would work (see for just stinky rugs below). Take it out to a deck or some surface that is not grassy or soily under neath. Hose it down and scrub it with oxyclean and a mild dish detergent, hose it off and then hang it so it will dry (takes a day or so in dry weather. If it is just smelly, get some old fashioned lysol spray (the kind that smells like antiseptic, not the new pretty smelling ones and take the rug outside. Spray the hell out of it and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. This will kill the mildew, old clothes smell or whatever is making it smell. You can't use febreeze or something with a nice odor because it will cover the smell, not get rid of it. Good luck
Q:How to fix carpet (coal burn)?
If it is an installed carpet then you will need a carpet installer to fix it, around a fifty dollar repair. If it is a loose layed carpet then flip the carpet over and cut a square out of the carpet big enough to remove the burn, next cut a piece the same size from the piece that you are going to use to fix, now place the piece in the hole making sure the pile stands up and lays down in the right direction, after putting in the hole rather then using an expensive carpet tape just duct tape it into place.
Q:Would the Rug Doctor be good for 1000 sq ft of carpet in a heavy traffic retail store?
Yes they are industrial quality cleaners. It may take a long time. We run our Rug Doctor for over 5 hours cleaning our carpet when it is really bad. Use Clorox2 with your detergent. That helps with really bad spots. As long as you use the anti-foam you can use other detergents. Like dawn on your bad grease spots but don't use too much it suds up alot. We use laundrt detergent.
Q:carpet question???????
First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!
Q:A way to recover a natural fiber rug that got soaking wet?
thoroughly mix one part liquid chlorine bleach with six parts water in a spray mist bottle. Test the mixture by spraying a little in a corner of the rug (not on the binding). If bleaching occurs, dilute the solution and re-test until it is safe to use. Mist the solution lightly on the moldy area, using a soft brush to work it down into the weave to reach all the mold growth. After five or ten minutes rub the area with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat if necessary. When you are finished, be certain that the rug dries thoroughly within five or six hours, using a hair dryer on the damp spot if required.
Q:Are there any rug hooking guilds or classes in the SC area, where can I find discount burlap and wool yarn?
Debbie okorder.com/
Q:Pictures- area rug difficulties?
I liked the rug you returned, but do not think the rug size is large enough for the room. You do need some colour...try some accent pillows in a deeper colour of the sage on your wall..you will have to be careful on the colours..autumn colours could work well, but keep the reds more of a salsa red...if your paint colour has a grey undertone, then many red shades will not work well with it, but you can go more for the blues and golds/yellows like a mediterranian colour. Curtains (floor length) are a great starting point .... something patterned in the colours you like...light and airy ones that can go over your blinds so you still have the blackout you desire from the blinds. Pick out colours from your curtains to use in the pillow covers and some coloured glass vases or accent pieces. Lamps or scones will add a lot to the room too.
Q:How to clean a large carpet?
The carpet is splashed with solid and will be scraped off. Chewing gum stuck to the carpet should be treated specially. You can use the ice cubes in the plastic bag to freeze the chewing gum and scrape it with a blunt knife.
