- Go online and report it as lost or stolen. My daughter lost her phone, and after searching for it for a few days, we reported it lost. Virgin Mobile offered her a new (upgraded) phone for the cost of shipping (about $10 as I recall). Aside from the shipping charge, she didn't lose any money off of her account. - Q:I have a mobile phone, an LG CU515. For as long as I've had it, I've experienced disruption of service. At random parts of the day, in any weather condition, I will hear a slight beep, and then open my phone only to read, Smartchip not allowed MM#The phone isn't shutting itself off, I just can't make or receive any calls, or text messages. WhenI'm in the process of an Instant Message, I'm immediately signed out. I've found powering it off, and then back on, fixes the problem. I miss calls and texts if I don't have the phone around me, as I don't hear the slight noise that always sounds, when these distruptions occur. I always get the messages that are missed, once I power the phone off and on.I've had the phone for at least 4 months. I've talked to 4 different 'experts' at ATT, but they're clueless. I'm very simple. I don't ask for much, but this is quite bothersome. Can you advise?
- Phone usually go with 1 year manufacturers warranty. You can have phone checked to see if its a manufacturers defect then you can request from a replacement. If you have coverage for insurance you can also order replacement but usally there is a deductible that you would need to pay so you can get a replacement. You can also have the network in you area checked. it might not be the phone but the coverage in your areabut really seems like its a phone issue rather thatn a network issue. Good luck.

- You need a T-Mobile account and data plan just to set the phone up initially. I have one, so I've done it. When you first fire up the phone, it expects to find a T-Mobile sim with an active data plan, and you have to set up Google access with either an existing account or a new account set up on the phone. Once you do that, I understand you can unlock the phone and use it with other GSM systems (like ATT), but there are a couple of caveats: 1. You won't be able to use the T-Mobile data network, even with a ATT data plan. 2. You can allegedly tweak the phone to use the ATT data network, but you still have to have a data plan to do so. 3. You won't have any 3G access on ATT or T-Mobile's network. It will work with the edge network, but since the phoen si a 3G phone, you lost the advantage of that higher speed network. To me, doing it this way is no advantage. Even though ATT has better 3G coverage (currently), T-Mobile is rapidly rolling theirs out, and it is available in many major cities. I have it where I work in DC, but not where I live yet in Jacksonville, Florida, but the edge network works there really well. I know you have an ATT plan, but if your contract is up or close to it, I'd switch. I'm very happy with T-Mobile (been with them many years) and the G1 is an excellent phone.

- When your mobile is on it sends a signal to the nearest transmitter periodically, so the rough area can be easily identified by the mobile phone company. This info can be shared with the police with a court order. For anything more accurate you need quite sophisticated equipment that can triangulate your position and that is very precise. However, the authorities would need a good reason to do this and it is very expensive. Hence why it is not often used to track missing persons.

- Unless your state has a law for having a cell phone in the vehicle, than no; which would be extremely wrong. If your state has a law for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the officer witnessed you using it while operating then yes it is a legal bust. If the officer makes an issue for having a cell phone in the vehicle then the officer should be reminded one of the basic safety principals of having a cell phone in a vehicle. I would recommend to any civilian to carry a cell phone in there vehicle at all times; you just never know when you may need to make that important phone call to save a life.
