- If the bearings have shields on one side, put the shielded side facing outward. The friction between the wheel and the bearing will keep the majority of the dirt out. You will still need to properly maintain your bearings and keep them out of water. Shields don't keep out water. Swiss bearings are the best. My longboards have Pig Swiss in them.

- Deck - any brand (as long as its not walmart or others like that) 7.5 - 8 inches wide, 30 - 32 inches long Trucks - any brand that is the same size as your deck Wheels - any brand 49 - 53mm big Bearings - Bones Reds Griptape - any brand Hardware - any brand Shoes - any brand For decks I would recommend Mystery, Flip , or Baker. There are tons more, but these are my favorites. For trucks I have always rode on Ventures, but many people say Independents are the best. For wheels many people ride on Spitfires or Bones Wheels. For bearings ride Bones Reds. Cheap and good. For griptape, it depends. Mob Grip is the grippiest. I usually ride on Jessup grip. All hardware is the same. They all break eventually, just buy some cheap ones. Many people wear smaller shoes for skating because they say it is easier to control the board more. I wear 12's but when I skate I wear 10.5s. I would recommend DVS, Fallens, or Globes.

- Ask yourself WHY this need to be done when your engine should last for 300,000 miles WITHOUT needing ANY internal parts. The answer of course is that you have benn using INFERIOR WAX based engine oils. Even now, you PROBABLY do NOT need new bearings, but you DO need an engine flush and switch over to any of the good synthetic oils with a 0 series rating. Your engine life will extend and your bearings will be protected in the coldest weather, even at START_UP, which is where most engine wear actually occurs. TRUST ME, I know!! You shouldn' tneed crank resurfacing, but take the time to platigage the bearings, or have someone who KNOWS what they are doing repair this thing, Usualy a little crocus cloth will clean the crank surfaces perfectly. THINK AHEAD, and LEARN form this experience. USE DEXOS oil of Mobil One or Amsoil in the future. You will save money and your engine sensors and converter will last longest. - Q:What size engine rod bearings do I need for a ford Fusion? I ordered standard which was suggested by the dealership and by the sales people but they are way too big. We have a 2.3 liter engine.
- You rarely replace just the bearings because usually the crank is damaged or worn as well, and the entire crank kit should be installed. You are talking like .0002 clearance there. Well, it's a ford so give or take an inch or so should be like new. Kidding. Almost.
- Q:Front wheel bearings
- You normally just check the bearings when you do the brakes. Then you clean and repack them. If you get front wheel looseness or noise, then you jack it up and check for bearing play, or hear grinding.
- Q:is it cheaper to fix it or replace?
- It depends on what type of platform pedal it is. If they are the basic plastic type, the bearings in the pedal are sealed - When they've worn out (when that happened to my bike pedals they were probably a bit rusty?), it's time for a new set of pedals. If they are the slightly more expensive (usually alloy) pedals, the bearings are not sealed - so they are able to be replaced and therefore the pedals have a much longer life-span. If you do need new pedals, it would be worthwhile upgrading to the pedal type meantioned above, because at least those bearings can be maintained regreased when required. Though if in doubt, ask your local bicycle mechanic. Prices - it depends on what part of the world you live, others here might be a more in the know. A quick look in your local bike or even sports shop would be a good idea.
