- Q:I am growing a erb, vegetable, and fruit garden and I keep finding catipillars eating my vegetables. I keep finding them in my cucumbers, egg plant, corn, and tomatoes. How can I make some home made bug killer?
- If you are growing cabbage, grow mint beside it. It will keep cabbage moths at bay. Same with tomatoes/peppers and marigolds against hornworms. Use white oil for mites, scale, aphids, and mealybugs.

- Q:I am low income and am trying to do my best to beat all of the little insect critters that breed so well in garden settings. But something is eating my grapevines and my roses. I never see anything but the aftermath(holes, chew trails, and brown spots/dying leaves). Is there a solution I could make from household items that I could spray on my plants to help prevent/deter this?
- Overview Fruit trees are susceptible to several different types of insects. Aphids, coddling moths, red mites and fruit flies are all examples of insects that attack fruit trees. It is best not to use a chemical insecticide to kill these insects, since the chemicals can seep into the fruit. When the fruit is ingested, so are the chemicals. Fortunately, you can make your own insecticide at home out of horticultural oil. Step 1 Wait for a day when the temperatures outside are between 40 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. You also need a day, preferably morning, that has little to no wind or rain. Once these conditions are met, you can make and apply your homemade oil spray. Step 2 Pour the horticultural oil in a backpack sprayer. This will make enough oil spray to cover one fruit tree. Step 3 Add water to the backpack sprayer. If you need to spray more than one fruit tree, you can double the horticultural oil and water measurements. Step 4 Shake the backpack sprayer to combine the two ingredients and then spray your fruit tree with it. Make sure you are getting under all of the leaves on the fruit trees, as this is where many of the insects like to hide. Step 5 Repeat once per month until you no longer have insects on your fruit trees. For treatment of rose plants, please visit website given at the bottom. Happy gardening!
- Q:What are the skills of balcony garden decoration design?
- Ground material: can choose archaize floor tile or anticorrosive wood
- Q:I have a large garden in my backyard that I am trying to cultivate. However the soil is very clay-like and hardens quickly like corn field dirt. Its too large to cover with miracle grow or anything and hand tilling it as well as keeping things alive in it is very hard. Any suggestions?
- You have to manage your garden in stages. And the first stage involves putting in plants that will go a long way toward helping to change your soil type for you while making the garden look nice. Look for plants that are species native to your area. Look for plants that propagate underground, because the creation of a network of roots helps till the soil. Look for plants that grow thick, because, again, this helps loosen the soil. And look for plants that will really spread both over one season, and from one season to the next. There are many herbs that fit the bill, including feverfew, mint, and pennyroyale. There are also many great decorative plant, like lilies and heliotropes, that will grow fast and help improve the soil. Also try ornamental grasses. After a few years of growing this stuff in your garden, and doing the relatively easy tasks of spreading some sand and compost over the soil, you should be able to start replacing your first-stage plants with plants that are more desirable, and slightly more difficult to grow. Your soil you be improved enough to consider plants with specific needs RE drainage and soil quality. And, if you really want something special, that requires really good soil, it will not be so difficult at this point to bump up the soil quality in a small area of your garden.

- Q:where can you buy Jackfruit here in southern California?
- I'd imagine an ethnic Asian market would have them. 99 Ranch Market would probably have them. You can find one in the San Fernando Valley if I remember correctly.
- Q:I'm moving into my first home ever in March. I'm trying to avoid department stores, since they tend to be WAY out of my price range. I would love new furniture, but I can find any that's not extremely expensive. So I searched Craigslist , etc. and had no luck. I need a couch to start off, and a dining table.

- Q:Someone I know has a vegetable and fruit garden in his backyard. He used pesticides on his fruits and vegetables, however, he had been eating them for two months without washing them. Do you think he consumed a significant amount of pesticides to cause serious long-term health effects? This is a serious question, and the person concerned is very worried.Thank you for any insight you can offer.
- Well, that depends on the ingredients of the pesticide used. Generally speaking, he should stop that from now onwards. If he feels that his conscious level is lowering or excessive salivation , then he should go to the emergency room immediately
