Q:Is technology (phones, tv, internet, machinery) destroying human relationships and communication?
It's certainly not destroying human communication. In fact, in terms of breadth and scope, and in terms of the number of people an average person might communicate in the course of a day, it's increased human communication hugely. It is, however, causing a raid development in human communication. You note that we seldom seem to speak face to face anymore. That's certainly true, and yet how many more people per day do you think our ancestors spoke to face to face than we do today? As a percentage, surely a lot more, but in absolute numbers? I'd suggest about the same. We talk to more people, from much wider areas than our ancestors ever dreamed of. You note that people that we do talk to often are also using gadgets. I have been annoyed by this trend, but I think of it as a part of that evolution I mentioned before. We tend to multitask now, more than ever. I'm not sure that frenetic pace is a good thing, however. Finally, your draw a conclusion that we are now farther apart than ever before. I'm not sure I agree, and I don't see any evidence to support your conclusion directly. I have internet pen pals from all around the world, and in some ways, I think the ease of long range communication has brought us closer together than was ever possible before. I talk to people daily who have completely different takes upon world events, based on their culture and upbringing, and I think that variety of opinion is very enlightening. At any rate, we are having to evolve. Our modes of behavior, our traditions are changing, and while it styresses those of us who are comfortable with the old, traditional ways of doing things, in just a few short decades, most of us will be gone, and our children will be lamenting the changes they see.
Q:Does California Sales tax apply on foreign imported machinery?
Sure. It is called Use Tax but is the same rate as Sales Tax.
Q:Machinery has its tools that need to be replaced after 10 years for technical reasons.?
Question of Inventory precaution.
Q:How do I invent different types of machinery?
There's lots of sites, but you can't learn how to invent. You can learn how to make things work, but invention is by definition something that's not been done before. To invent stuff, you just need to come up with new ideas and have enough money to patent it for as long as you can afford. Making an invention that actually works is a lot harder, and you need to either learn a lot and have good finance, or learn a little and be filthy rich!
Q:HOW COME WERE THE ONLY SPECIES ON THIS PLANET THAT INVENTS AND OPERATES MACHINERY !?
Most animals can't manipulate the tools needed to make the machinery or the machines themselves. They are also quadrupedal for the most part. That means that, when they want to carry something, it has to be in the mouth. That is not conducive to the development of speech, which means less cooperative effort to make machinery or the passing along of the knowledge of how to do so.
Q:machinery screws; odd type, where do i get the tools?
If you are describing an allen head screw that has a bump in the middle of the hole to keep you from inserting a standard allen wrench, these are called tamper proof screws (as the generic name for many different designs). You can purchase a set o bits that cover many of these designs. (typical link below). Making sure you get the right kind and size in a set is the hard part, unless you can find a set at a hardware store. -- Regards, John Popelish
Q:I think drug testing is bullshit, unless you operate or are responsible for heavy machinery. Agree?
I agree mostly. The purpose of drug testing other than pre employment, is so that when someone gets hurt on the job and comes up dirty the company is not liable and can fire the person. Maybe they should test people for being tired or perhaps overworked and stressed too that way they could get out of even more Workman's comp cases. I think you should be tested with a Breathalyzer to see if you are drunk but not drug tested. That is bullshit. If you are drunk on the job you should loose your job, and you really shouldn't be getting high at work. But there is no test to see when you got high only that you had gotten high at some point within the last month or so. It is also a means to divide and conquer the populace. But lets not get into that.
Q:What can I do to be able to build and design automobiles, ships, or construction machinery?
No individual can design and build automobiles, ships, or construction machinery. You can be a specialised member of a team to design parts of automobiles, ships, or construction machinery.
Q:What is an embedded device, and what sorts of office machinery have them?
A device that has a computer in it (microwave oven, car, mp3 player) is an embedded device. Office machinery? Printers, copiers, alarms (fire, burglar). If you have to use a swipe card to punch in or open doors, there's a computer behind that (it may be embedded, it may be just a PC.) Your phone system almost definitely has at least one embedded computer.
Q:In what ways did the increased use of machinery affect workers and working conditions?
Workers production increased a thousand-fold
