your laptop shold have a company name on it or you could try to put ice on it that worked your battery could be over heating and jsut find the company on the laptop and go to company on the internet and buy one of the new cords i tshold work

Yes. Brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy may carry brand/model-specific adapter, or a universal one (basically, it comes with different tips for different laptops). OKorder has something like that, as well. Alternatively, you can check out the Dell website for the adapter that you need. Also, try chatting up with a service representative to see if they'll help you get a new one.

the charger could be faulty. i would suggest you look into returning the charger and getting a new charger from a more reliable source. the charger has to be the exact model as the one you are using now with the correct specifications. for a new charger, you can look online on generic sites but i would personally suggest topmic they are more reliable and have better reputation. you should be able to find them through google search. make sure the specifications is the same as your current charger (connector tip, voltage, amperage, etc). if you have any more questions feel free to send me an email and ill be happy to help (^_^)/!

Dell chargers have a internal chip that communicates with the laptop, if the chip isn't in the charger, dell computers will not charge. The problem is that some people would use the incorrect chargers and literally blow up their laptops. Dell got sued for a few of these and decided to block third party chargers.
