Q:Can solar panels be installed on water pumps?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on water pumps. Solar-powered water pumps are a great alternative to traditional pumps as they harness energy from the sun to power the pumping system. This not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also makes these pumps more versatile and suitable for remote areas where electricity may not be readily available.
Q:Can solar panels increase the value of commercial properties?
Yes, solar panels can increase the value of commercial properties. By installing solar panels, property owners can reduce their energy costs and generate sustainable power. This can make the property more attractive to potential buyers or tenants who prioritize sustainable practices and want to lower their environmental impact. Additionally, solar panels can also generate income through net metering or feed-in tariffs, further enhancing the property's value.
Q:Can solar panels be used to power swimming pools?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power swimming pools. Solar panels generate electricity by converting sunlight into energy, which can be used to power various devices and appliances, including swimming pool pumps and heaters. By installing solar panels, pool owners can significantly reduce or eliminate their reliance on traditional electricity sources, making it a sustainable and cost-effective way to power swimming pools.
Q:Pls is it ok to connect a 0watt and 20watt solar panel together into a charge controller port, can i just tie the wires together and run into the controller?? Will damage anything...Thanks guys
Tobi, generally yes, solar panels are like beer, all the europeans get along fine, you can put two Belgiums in the same room as one German and three Englishman. As long as the panels have roughly the same open circuit voltage, usually around 8 volts, then go for it. If you're not sure about this, or the panels voltage disagrees dramatically, then they can still work through the same charge controller, the only other thing you need is a bypass diode in the junction box on the back of each panel. Most modern panels come with these already installed. They are simply electrical check valves, allowing current flow in one direction but not the other. The reason these matter is when the sun is first coming up, the higher voltage panel can force its power backwards through the lower voltage panel, at least until they both reach a voltage higher than the charge controller is set at. This is not a desirable thing to have happen, the 20 watt panel, if its voltage is higher, can damage the 0 watt panel without these diodes if the 20 watt has a much higher open circuit voltage, or Vmax. Look on the back of the panel for these ratings. The only other concern is maximum current. A charge controller has a maximum current it can handle, they are generally model numbered this way, a Xantrex C-60 for example has a 60 amp rating. Add up the Imax numbers on the back of all your panels, this is the maximum amperage the panel should put out. As long as it is not above 80% of your charger controllers maximum amperage, your good. Take care, Rudydoo
Q:Just wondering if it is possible to recycle solar panels and where that would be done. If it is possible, is there a money refund in return. Or would it be better to just take the metal off and get a refund in that way? Looking for basically any answer here.
yes they are very recyclable, and you would actually be suprised at how much you get back from them just as materials, as there are still very valuable materials in them.... Often solar shops will accept them back for at a fraction of what you paid, as they can send them back to the manufacturer who then do all the material stripping in them and recycle all the materials there. Mainly depends what type of solar panels you have.... Most probably poly-chystalline or mono-chystalline. If they are that cool blue or black psychadelic looking panel also the manufacturing make that effect is also costly so they would probably look to buying that as well.. I would ask a solar shop where it can be done as the silicon in them are still a very prescious substance..... I would definatly not throw them out or pull them apart just yet
Q:Aren't batteries bad for the environment?Toxic?Expensive? With small solar panels phones, iPod's, laptops other small electronics could be smaller, slimmer, more efficient cost people less to charge every day. Maybe a small battery inside as a backup and to store the Solar energy for night time. But overall, batteries should be optional. So big question:Why aren't electronics being produced with solar panels?
Solar panels could still be expensive, which would also raise the cost of the item. They also are made with chemicals that harm that enviroment(not too badly, but ya know..) You would also need to charge them, of course, in sunlight and most people enjoy the benefit being able to plug something in and still being able to use it. Not saying it's a bad idea, just the world we live in.
Q:So, assuming that a solar panel is flush with the ground (i.e. only the photovoltaic side is visible, the other sides are covered by dirt,) what would happen if it was run over by a car? How about an SUV? Would it break?Would the solar panel still generate electricity?

Q:Hi, wanting to set up the most basic solar panel system for a cabin in the woods that has enough power to recharge four 2V car batteries during the daytime (i am assuming; we want to run a mini fridge maybe a stove and a few lights at night off the batteries and be able to run it all just off solar during the day) It also needs to be able to power some simple tools during the day... Experience would be absolutely amazing since alot of the info on solar paneling is either really dumbed down, or ridiculously confusing. As of right now I am looking at a 3 panel (45watt in all) solar kit that needs a 300w inverter.... is this sufficient for my power needs? I am just a little perplexed, thanks so much!
ever looked at the light from a 45 watt bulb? it's true that in a cabin, if you're in the right place, you can read from it. however, assuming that you get 6 hours of sun, you can run your light for 4-5 hours. and nothing else. if you're hoping to run a stove, you're going to need several hundred watts. not sure what tools you're thinking of, but i don't know of many that run on 2v DC. (not sure that i know of a stove that runs on 2v DC either, but you can look that up.) for tools, you might want to consider a gas powered compressor and air tools. that'll give you the strength that you need. yes, i know that's not what you were thinking, but pretty obviously you're going to need to do a bit more thinking. even a minifrig is going to use considerably more than 45 watts. and that would be 24 hours a day. remember, a minifrig has considerably less insulation. you can't save much and per pound, it takes more juice.
Q:I'm a carpenter, and can do electric work. I want to make some money installing Solar Panels. what's the best source?
Wow. This is a big question. First, are you in the United States? If so, then I would look at a couple of web sites. First, I would look at joining ASES - the American Solar Energy Society. (Actually, I'd do this whether or not you were in the US) Their magazine will have ads and directorys and so forth for panel manufacturers, inverter manufacturers, rack vendors, metering companies, etc. At the very least, their web site will give you numerous links to popular panel manufacturers. Right now, it can be difficult to get panels in the US. My buying agent can't promise us a significant number of panels until at least late this coming fall. And prices are going up due to a silicon shortage at the moment. Still, you could probably get your hands on small quantities. You just might not be able to choose exactly which manufacturer you want. Also, I'd look into getting NABCEP certification. This is the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. They provide a referral service for people looking for solar installers, and they may have a net work of members that could help get you started. Good luck!
Q:Can solar panels be integrated into buildings?
Yes, solar panels can be integrated into buildings. In fact, many buildings today incorporate solar panels into their design to generate clean and sustainable electricity. These integrated solar panels can be installed on rooftops, facades, or even as part of the building materials themselves. This integration helps to maximize energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and lower energy costs for the building occupants.
