Q:Buying a carpet, what to look for?
ViVre pretty much had the answers for you. I used to sell carpet. You want to make sure you have a good installer as well. Sometimes if it's not stretched enough it will relax and develope ripples........if this happens, don't be afraid to call the installer back to restretch it. Also vacuum it every other day or so with a good vacuum. The info I gave you will help your new carpet last you a lot longer.
Q:Cleaning and drying carpets?
Use a wet/dry vac to suck the water out of the carpet. You can buy a small one for around $20-30 if you don't have one. Then point a fan on the carpet to speed up the drying. I would buy a couple of cheap fan (like at Walmart) to use to dry the carpet. If the air outside is dry, open the windows when doing this. If it is humid out, crank the AC (if you have one).
Q:What's the difference between an area rug and an oriental rug?
an area rug is just that: ANY rug that is not laid down carpet, generally a rug that sits on top of another surface, often woods which shows around the edges. An oriental carpet is a very specific type of design. I would look at pictures as that is easier than trying to describe it. It is a type of area rug.
Q:Is there a differance between rugs and blankets. Which ones do you need??
you still need to let hem be outside to graze even if for a few hours. if they are in a stall for ALL winter, they will get so stiff that they will be extremely sore for a long time. the only difference between a rug and a blanket is the way that it is spelled. i say a medium weight blanket will be perfect.
Q:What is sole and composit bottom of the carpet? What's the difference?
There is no need to be composit bottom. If it is laid in front of the bed or marble. The composit bottom carpet is mainly used for the floor tile: Composit bottom means that add a layer of anti-skid plastic cloth to the back bottom of chenille. If laid in the wooden floor, it not only has a non slip effect, but also can make the product more three-dimensional. Especially in the bathroom.
Q:can throw rugs be placed on top of a full rugged room?
Rugs on carpet is certainly ok to do. However I found the rug would tend to wander a bit too much, and have found there is some real good material on sale that you put between the rug and carpet. This prevents all slippage, our rug hasn't moved in a long time now, and still looks great!
Q:What can I do to reuse/make a large area rug?
sounds like the rug is pretty much worn out, I think the only thing you could do would be to make small door mats from the areas that are still somewhat in good shape and throw the rest away. Once a material has become so degraded as you describe, there is is no way to save it, plus it only makes cleaning and maintenance more difficult because it is constantly falling apart right under your feet.
Q:Does anyone know anything about carpet dyeing?
once as they have been in the carpet dyeing and cleaning business for years. Also check the yellow pages and ask for references on their dyeing jobs.
Q:Should I replace house with wall to wall carpet, carpet tiles or area rugs?
Wall to wall carpet is less expensive then carpet tiles or area rugs. I saw someone else answered about home improvement centers offering fixed prices on labor. As with all things there is now free lunch. These fixed price on labor deals do not include items that will need to be taken care of, moving of furniture, measuring the house prior to installation, removing and disposing of old material, installation on stairs etc. And the cost for the carpet and padding are inflated to more then make up for any savings on the installation. The best way to purchase anything like this is to compare the bottom line price for the entire job, all materials and the installation. My company sells discounted carpet and we are normally 30 percent lower then the home improvement centers.
Q:baby's room decoration, what kind of rug is ok?
They have those thin, bamboo mats that are beautiful and don't collect dust that bad, therefore better for her to breathe. I've always thought they were pretty. Maybe you could do her room like in a cute little jungle or tropical theme.God Bless.
