Q:help with aluminium and titanium questions?
1. When exposed to air, pure aluminium rapidly forms a passive oxide layer, alumina, which further inhibits aluminium reactions with other elements. 2. Aluminium can be made stronger by alloying with other elements. One of the most known aluminum alloy is duraluminium, where the principal alloying component is copper. 3. Exactly as aluminium, titanium corrosion resistance is due to its high reactivity with oxygen. When pure titanium is exposed to air it forms a passive titanium dioxide layer on the surfaces exposed which further prohibits other reactions with corrosion agents. 4. The use of titanium in jet engines components is favored by its strength to weight ration, which is unmatched by any other metal. As for the nuclear reactors, its use is preferred because of its superior corrosion resistance associated with fracture toughness and overall durability. 5. Both titanium and aluminium are refined from their respective mined ores - bauxite, for aluminium, ilmenite and rutile for titanium. Basically, these are oxides of the metals. Pure metal has to be reduced from these ores and processes involve use of temperatures up to and sometime exceeding 1000 degrees Celsius, which obviously requires a great consumption of energy, including electricity. Moreover, pure aluminium is obtained in the final processing phase through electrolysis, meaning an electrical current is needed in order to drive the required chemical reactions, thus adding to the electrical consumption. 6. Recycling aluminium from aluminium simply requires the remelting of the metal, eliminating the electrolytic phase that is high electric energy consuming.
Q:what's the oxidation method of positive pole on the surface of aluminum sheet?
Do chemical polishing again, oxidation time is about 40 – 90 minutes, after finishing all of these, you can conduct positive pole oxidation, choose sulfuric acid solution in normal situation, pretreatment is very important in the whole process, take stereo as negative pole, firstly, use the solution mixed of carbonate-bicarbonate and detergent to heat and clean its surface, pretreat the aluminum sheet, dyeing according to requirement after oxidation, then remove the oxide film with oxide film removal solution, place aluminum sheet on the positive pole, finally closing it in the boiling water for about 15 minutes.
Q:What the glue of L solidified aluminum and fast acrylic plate, solid glue?
If you only need sticky sticks and low marks, you can choose N-906AB glue or KD-855 quick drying metal glue
Q:Is Aluminum Combustible?
Aluminum metal oxidizes readily in air but when that happens, a layer of aluminum oxide will form, preventing further oxidation. So if you have a block of aluminum, the surface will oxidize and the rest will not. If you shave aluminum into a fine powder, you can actually light it on fire as it will rapidly and violently oxidize because there is more surface area. If you add iron powder in the mix, it will burn even hotter. I would not recommend doing this reaction.
Q:aluminum oxide?
It turns out to be surprisingly difficult to do, because aluminum forms a skin of oxide which retards further oxidation. One way might be to react aluminum with sulfuric acid, getting aluminum sulfate in solution. Treat this with barium hydroxide; barium sulfate will precipitate out, leaving aluminum hydroxide in solution. Dry this and heat it, driving off the hydroxide as water and leaving aluminum oxide. I haven't tried this, so cannot guarantee that it will work.
Q:Cleaning Aluminum TIG Welding?
Preweld cleaning requires two operations: oil/grease removal and oxide removal. As below, remove oils and greases first, then remove the oxide. Don’t reverse this order. Take the following steps before welding aluminum: 1. Remove oil, grease, and water vapor using an organic solvent such as acetone or a mild alkaline solution like a strong soap. You may also use citrus-based degreasers, but be sure to rinse and dry the part before welding. 2. Remove surface oxides with a stainless steel wire brush (used only for aluminum) or strong alkaline or acid. Many welding suppliers sell oxide-removal solutions in spray or squeeze bottles for local application. Exercise extreme care when handling these solutions, and again, rinse and dry the part before welding. 3. Assemble the joint. If it won't be welded immediately, cover the joint with brown Kraft paper to prevent dirt and grit in the air from getting into the joint. 4. Keep the aluminum dry and at room temperature. 5. Weld within a few days. Clean the joint again if it isn't welded within that time. Good luck!!!
Q:is the cadillac 4.5 liter V8 engine made with aluminum heads?
no not aluminum heads, aluminum block. Cadillac 4.5L DFI V8 Vin 5 155hp 4000 RPM 240tq 2600 RPM 3.62 inch bore, 3.31 inch stroke 9.0:1 compression ratio Aluminum block, cast-iron heads Cadillac 4.5L SPFI V8 Vin 3 180hp 4300 RPM 245tq 3000 RPM 3.62 inch bore, 3.31 inch stroke 9.5:1 compression ratio Aluminum block, cast-iron heads
Q:Why did the copper rust disappear when emersed in aluminum chloride?
Well done on noting unexpected observations and following up. Your copper is coated with a dull coating of copper oxide. It became shiny because aluminium salts are acidic in water and the acidity dissolves the coating to form a copper salt and leaving the shiny copper. CuO + 2H3O+ ---- Cu2+ + 3H2O The reaction to form the acidity, a hydrated hydrogen ion H+(H2O) or H3O+ is fairly complex. If aluminium chloride is dissolved in a large amount of water the solution is acidic, but this has nothing to do with formation of hydrochloric acid. The solution contains hydrated aluminium ions and chloride ions: AlCl3(s) + aq → [Al(H2O)6]3+(aq) + 3Cl -(aq) The hexaqua complex ion behaves exactly like ions of similar type formed from transition metals; the small, highly charged metal ion polarises (withdraws electron density from) the water molecules that are attached to the aluminium ion through dative covalent bonds. This makes the hydrogen atoms d+ and susceptible to attack from solvent water, which is acting as a base. The complex ion is deprotonated, causing the solution to be acidic from the formation of hydroxonium ions H3O+: [Al(H2O)6]3+(aq) + H2O(l) → [Al(H2O)5OH]2+(aq) + H3O+(aq)
Q:Aluminum knowledge. What is the model 3003 H24? What does H mean?
3003 is aluminium manganese alloy aluminum plate (Al--Mn), which is mainly composed of manganese.H24: continuous casting, continuous rolling, Zhang Liqiang and partial toughening. Is the aluminum plate with a thickness of more than 0.2mm to 500mm, 200mm width, length less than 16m aluminum material called aluminum plate or aluminum sheet, aluminum is below 0.2mm, 200mm within the width of the row material or bar (of course, with the progress of the large equipment, the width can be 600mm row material also more). Aluminum sheet refers to the rectangular plate made of aluminium ingot rolled and divided into pure aluminum plate, alloy aluminum plate, thin aluminum plate, middle thick aluminum plate and pattern aluminum plate.Aluminium alloy is added in the process of aluminum alloy elements (main alloying elements copper, silicon, magnesium, zinc, manganese, minor alloying elements such as nickel, iron, chromium, titanium, lithium, etc.) in order to improve the mechanical properties of aluminum and chemical index. Alloy aluminum sheet has some special properties of pure aluminum plate, and is widely used in special environment, such as ship, refrigerator, mould, aerospace equipment, etc..
Q:Still aluminum in stainless steel cookware?
Aluminum and titanium are lighter, but they are easier to scratch (due to non-stick coatings) and do not hold heat as well. Stainless steel is more durable and distributes heat better. You can also clean it with sand or ice without having to worry about scratching it. If you are going to fry with it, you will need oil since the food will stick without it. When I go ultra light, I use a jet boil with a titanium pot to boil water for cooking. When I want to go gourmet, I use the GSI stainless steel set.
