In most cases yes, however there are NPT(National Pipe Thread) ,Compression, Flared, and HT(Hose Thread) brass fittings. Most PVC fittings are NPT, although you may find HT and very small compression pvc fittings at some hardware stores. The link below may help.

You might consider using regular black-iron pipe (cheaper than galvanized), which when thorougly cleaned takes paint very well. You could then paint it all sorts of neat colors either as individual pieces or fittings or as a whole.

No it won't because most leaks in brake systems leak from the inside if the fittings. the only reason the outside threads are there is to tighten them up.

But employers DO have the right to set and establish dress codes and proper work attire for their employees, and they DO have the right to fire anyone who refuses to comply with their policies (provided that they are not offensive or discriminatory). I once had a part-time seasonal job working at a large retail chain, and we all had to wear the same uniform. It had nothing to do with safety, it had everything to do with identification so that customers could easily find you if they needed help. And if I had refused to wear it for whatever reason, I would have been fired and I would have had no legal recourse.
