Q:Does anyone have a schematic?
on the wires it should tell you want the wires are four you should have a red wire black wire.the red is live wire and the back wire is earth wire.and the four you got left is speaker wires
Q:I have two low voltage wires that run from one side of a building to another. The insulation on both wires is the same color. I eventually just walked an additional wire around the building and checked continuity. Is there an easier way to differentiate between the two wires?
1. At one side of the building mark the two wires. 2. Connect a battery to the two ends noting which is positive. 3. Go to the other side of the building and use your voltmeter to determine which wire end is positive. Mark that one the sameas you did the other end of the positive wire.
Q:I got a ventilation fan for the bathroom. The fan has 2 wires and there are 2 wires sticking out of the wall. How do I know which wire connects to which wire? What would happen if I connect the wrong wires?
The fan will run no matter which way the wires are connected. The AC that is going to run the fan has no specific polarity like DC does. The only question would be safety. See if there's a green screw anywhere on a metal part of the fan. If there is, you should run a ground wire to it. There might not be, and in that case, because the fan only has 2 wires, it must be double insulated and will pose no shock hazard. You've probably seen electric drills with no ground wire. These are double insulated and are safe to use without a ground wire.
Q:I removed my old door chime/bell a few years ago and replaced it with a wireless one. That one quit working and now I am attempting to install a new wired one again. The only problem is, when I removed my old one way back, I failed to label the existing wires to where they go. I have two wires coming out of my wall mount, one white, one brown and the both have a white and red wire sticking out of them. I am not sure which one/ones will connect to the FRONT and TRANS posts on my new chime. I don't have a rear door bell button so that is not a problem. Which wire goes to the FRONT and TRANS and do I cap off any of the 4 wires? My installation instructions don't cover the mindless mistake of not having the wires labled.
If your old transformer is still working connecting the wires up wrong will burn it out in an instant. I have been there. The safest thing to do is locate your transformer and disconnect all the wires. Take the doorbell off and disconnect the wires. And then you have the chime off as well. Then use a continuity tester (has a battery and lights up or buzzes when the circuit is complete) and find out which wire goes where. You might have to string a temporary wire through the house to complete the circuit from downstairs to upstairs. Once you know which wire goes where you will be connecting a wire from one end of the transformer to the button a line from the button to the chime and a line from the chime to the transformer (a series circuit.) A voltmeter will tell you if the transformer is already burnt out. If you get a new transformer make sure you get one that matches the voltage requirement of the chimes (usually 16 volts.)
Q:I have a 3 wire source I want to connect it to a switch on/off and then make it 2 wire to the light
You probably have a red, white, and black wires first check with a voltage tester the black and whiteor red and white wires to see if you have power between those 2 wire if you dont you cant use it to feed the switch it may have been a 3- way switch. If you have power take the white wire from the light and splice with the white in the three wire and the black from the light goes to one of the screws on the single pole switch and the black or red from the 3 wire goes to the other screw on the switch ,does not make a differnce which goes where and make sure grounds are spliced (bare copper or green wire) A BLACK WIRE IS NEVER A NEUTRAL AND YOU NEVER GET RID OF THE GROUND IF YOU DONT KNOW THE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS DONT ANSWER THEM YOUR BAD ADVICE COULD KILL SOMEONE
Q:My father changed out a 3 prong plug to a 4 prong plug and crossed the wires by mistake. So the red wire on the plug was connected to the black wire to the dryer and visa-verse. What would happen to the dryer if it is turned on with these wires crossed? Consequently, my dryer's motor is not responding, however the heating element is working. Was there a short? Did the motor get fired?
i have seen that problem before - usually its a ground problem - with the dryer itself - look at the wiring diogram of inside the unit - some you have to rerout -
Q:I had gotten 5 commercial solar cells from siliconsolar. But, I need to know where could I get wires to connect to the solar cells, in order to harness the cells energy.
Visit Gem Energy Australia to get wires
Q:I'm replacing the door speakers in a 2001 Coupe Camaro with the factory sound system. I needed to know which wire was positive and which was negative so I bought a circuit tester. However, I keep getting the reading that both wires are positive. What could be causing this? I know the circuit tester works because I tested it on the battery terminals and it worked fine.
If you power it up, and go from one wire to ground at a time it will work, if you use the tester between the two speakers wires it will be positive both ways you hook it.
Q:I've started cutting wire and bending it into shapes to create animals or images, but the problem is, I need to know how to make each piece stick together without any glues as they make the art dulled and the metal looses its shine :/ any suggestions?
I did wire art in college and we had to use just the wire as well, so I just used needle nose plyers and did a lot of twisting to hold the wires together.
Q:I know that most wire is copper, however, I found this wire that is silver in color. So that got me to thinking, what other metals are used in wire, and, are they all non-magnetic?
It was made of tin and copper alloy. Outside coated with silver color tin to prevent rusty. This alloy is non magnetic. Other type wire or special cable were made with strand steel + copper like high voltage power line. Or like TV cable uses aluminum jacket shield copper coaxial cable.
