I am guessing he will be receiving workman's comp. benefits, but is this safety malfunction grounds for a lawsuit? It looks like his hand will never be fully functional. I'm afraid his career as a meat cutter is over. He doesn't have any other trade that he can do and his age is a factor (58). I'm afraid that he will be unable to work sufficiently after this accident.

OSHA should be on it, you'll need them to corroberate that the company screwed up and caused the accident. It's tough to research without knowing a bit more about where the company is located, or what the details of the job are. However, a Google search for Madubello Machinery Development turns up some info that doesn't look good. Lots of people trying to find more information about a company, with no luck -- real companies are EASY to find! (like mills, lathes, routers etc, of which I assume there are limitations on angular production)Will this not cut the learning curve and rapid prototyping time significantly?Or is there limitations in these type of rapid prototyping machines as well do you think?I just think, learning and using many different machines these days on manufacturing is quickly becoming obsolete. 3D printing is a great technology getting better all the time. While the 3D printer can make all of those shapes within a certain precision (they lay down thin sheets of plastic on top of each other) there are many limitations of the process, such as size, materials, precision, and manufacturing throughput that make it not the best choice in all cases. I designed a part recently out of aluminum that thermally connected a tank to a cold plate heat exchanger. It was made on a CNC mill and could not have been made with 3D printing. Because of the size of it, even if there was a material available, 3D printing would likely have been at least 10X more expensive than CNC milling was. More processes gives engineers more design freedom to come up with better stuff.

The ability to self repair. If an animal gets a cut, its platelets eventually clot it and the cut scabs over and is eventually fully repaired. If a machine gets a hole in it, the machine cannot repair it itself.

Q:What about the marketing department of mechanical engineering students?

Mainly to do some market development work! And sales are different, marketing department general workload is very small, every day nothing, work is not tired!
