A: How to control the quality?

- If you want a great do it your self, check out the thrift stores and then your local fabric store. If it is wood framed you can spray paint it any color or even multi colored. Seat backs and bottoms are very easy to recover, just use the existing fabric as your pattern then staple gun or hot glue.

- most of them chairs will have a gas power push up in the base but all of that section should just unscrew from under the seat. You have to get down and dirty on the floor to see. be brave a pull back any covering.

- If you can afford it, Steelcase chairs are great. I've bought two over the years and they offer great back support and have many adjustments available to fit your body type. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. I figure with as much time as I spend in an office chair, it's a wise investment.
